Break shaft specs

I have a never ending quest to improve my break. Tell me guys, how big of a diameter should the tip be and what shape is best for the tip?

I am looking at a laminated purple heart shaft for a break shaft and thinking of going 13 mm on the tip and 30 inches on the shaft.

Open to suggestions.

Right.

I wondered about that, but I don't break hard enough to crush a snow cone! Maybe a regular purple heart shaft be better?

Hell. I don't know, just want a magic wand and a quick fix. I'm old and time is short.....:

For my breaker, I put a Schon tip on my 17.5oz Pechauer Pro-H sneaky, it does a helluva job. Sometimes I just play with it whole games. The Schon tips are HARD. I think they're Water Buffalo, don't mushroom and don't lose any shape!

My break cue is a Players cue with the weight taken out and a 13mm carbon fiber

shaft with a 20 inch pro taper. I have a leather tip and the cue weighs 15 ounces.

the taper

A purpleheart shaft should get the job done without breaking the bank. I would think a bit faster taper than a pro taper, say 1.5 or 2 mm per foot. That might cause you to have a little smaller tip than a 13mm when you calculate the thickness in your bridge. Comparing the thickness to the thickness of your current shafts might also indicate you won't have a problem, just one thing to check.

One thing you definitely want is a parabolic taper. Which is just to say an "S" curve instead of a simple curve where you transition from the taper of your butt to the taper under your bridge hand.

Don't have a longer than you need taper from the tip, bringing the parabolic section down just a couple inches can make a big difference.

Very small changes in a shaft profile make a big difference in how the shaft performs. I spent over a month and snapped a lot of blanks until I got "my" shaft profile. No doubt plenty more similar but this one is mine.

I am using my Fury Jump Cue shaft on a regular cue butt and it is making the rack explode. 14mm phenolic tip with a quarter radius.
