Break speed testing/adjusting

hang-the-9

Since we have this neat iPhone app, I was thinking everyone here will be doing nothing but breaking and seeing what will work the best.

I'm sure one of the top things will be to try new break cues.

So I was thinking what type of trials would have to be run to actually find out if it was the cue that is making the difference or just you feeling a bit strong that day.

I came up with 10 breaks a day over at least 3 different days, average that out and you should have a pretty accurate rating for your break speed. Done at the same table using the same ball set. Then swap sticks and do the same thing with that. This way you not only get the average of the 10 breaks, but also you take out any funky variables having to do with your mental state, air currents, whatever since you are doing this over several days. Or, hit 10 breaks with one stick, the next day swap to a different one and do 10 more, the next day go back to the original, and so on for a few days. Although that ads in an extra item where you are changing the feel of the stick too often which may add an extra variable.

Anyone think that is too short or too long to get a good reading?

Please help save Craig's cat. Who is Craig? He created the two BlackBerry versions of Break Speed. Whenever Craig hears people calling Break Speed an "iThis App" or "iThat App" he runs off to kick his cat. Craig's cat is fast, but she's getting old and won't be able to outrun him for long.

So, please. Help save Craig's Cat.

Just call it "Break Speed".

Thank you. :)

That was a pretty funny way to get your point across:D

It would be nice if they mention it's a IPhone app, that they also mention it is compatiable with other phones also, so people don't get the impression it's JUST for the IPhone.

I think it's because the way Apple's whole marketing scheme has played out. People just generalize by saying IPhone app. Any smart consumer would ask "Hey, wonder if they make it for my phone" and head on over to do a search for your website.

Congratulations on a great niche app. You did good by getting the exposure at the 10 ball Open last weekend and getting alot of free plugs for it via TAR. You also got a good website and it's great you ported it over to so many different OS's.

Good luck on it!

Cats

Hey, I don't even OWN a cat!

Seriously no cats were harmed in the production of beak speed. Nor dogs. Just that one squirrel, but he was asking for it :P

This was hillarious. I appoligize. It's just that every time I have seen this working, it's on an iPhone and just got into my head.
