what tip do you aficianados out there recommend/prefer for breaking?

and what hardness do you recommend?
soft?
medium?
medium hard?
hard?
very hard?

the tip i have on my break cues is very hard, perhaps that is the reason i have trouble controlling the cue ball?

i recomomend a slightly flat (don't shape it ) triangle tip.

I like a phenolic tip(came on my J&J jump/break).

Lately I have been breaking with my custom sneaky pete. It is 60" and has an aged, worn, moori 3 med on it. It actually seems to be breaking much better than the J&J...

Here is the break tip to solve all your problems. Micheal wagner of raven cues makes his own jump/break tips and they are aweosme. He spent years of trial and error to make the best tips. They a re a philonic hybrid ( I think) but he makes two. One for maximum power and jumping ability and one that is just as hard but offers more cue ball control. Check em out

I suggest a VERY hard tip. If you use a softer tip, it will compress and take away part of the force as you hit. It's the same reason you don't use a rubber mallet to pound in nails, or a cushioned gold club to drive.
