Fancy Break Cue

For many years I broke using my Gus Szamboti cue. The day Gus handed me the cue, I asked him "Gus can I break with it?" His reply "sure, what good is a cue you can't break with!''

Hal

That's always been my sentiment as well. If I'm going to pay good money for a cue I had better damn well be able to break with it!

Funny thing is this... I purchased a nice custom cue off the secondary market. It was supposed to be an upgrade to my Joss production cue (which I also used for play and breaking) for everyday play. Well after trying to get used to it for a while, I just realized it was just to heavy for me to get used to on certain shots. But it hit like a sledgehammer, so now it is my dedicated break cue. So for me, I only use my expensive "nice" cue for breaking and my old production cue for playing!

Well I least aren't alone as far as my one cue habit!

I was really starting to feel like the lone ranger as far as cues go since I do not own a break cue ! I have a 40 plus year old cue that I broke and played with for years that is still usable and yes the ferrule is ivory! I also have a 1986 D16 that I broke and played predomitably 8 ball for years and just had it cleaned up and restored (same shaft and ferrule ) last spring by Ted Harris and am playing with it again now! :D

I used to break with my player but after buying a break/jump cue I much prefer to use it instead. If I need a nice break, I'll use my break cue. Same thing for jumping, phenolic tips work.

I break with my Schon. I love the way it breaks. I bought a Georgia Tech cue from our shop becuase the wrap felt somewhat similar and I liked the feel along with it being fairly cheap. But I wish the shaft was not as flimsy. I think it is a players.

I had an aftermarket Universal Smart Shaft on the Schon. However I broke that on a break. But wit the Schon shaft it's still doing fine.

I know I shouldn't but it's a hard habit to break. I can't find a break cue I really like except my Schon.
