chalk is cheap

i shoot from a power chair and i am having trouble with my break. i have tried breaking from the right, left, center hitting the head ball and the second ball which often leads to a scratch. i just can't get enough power into my break and seldom make a ball which in 8 ball is a death sentence to a worthy opponent. does anyone know of a soft break method that often produces making a ball on the break? any suggestions would be appreciated.

Might work might not... I started not worrying about relaxed and took my time and stated breaking beautifully, Remember its not about killing the cue ball kill the rack and to it with accuracy. Trust me give it a try and relax and first step to that is not beating yourself up about your break and just break it.

What weight stick do you use

I would go with a 17 or 25oz. one extreme will work for you. Either real light to get you more momentum or a real heavy one to impart more power on the rack. I shoot with a 25oz and I don't have to swing near as hard as with my 17oz that I used forever.

Just a thought not sure if that will help but worth a try.

chalk is cheap...First of all, NOBODY, especially playing 8ball, makes a ball (or more) every time they break. That includes the top professionals. I've worked with several wheelchair players over the years. Try sitting up a little higher in the chair (put a thick phone book under your cushion). With a pendulum swing, you don't need to put body movement into your break. Just the weight of the cue, perfect timing, and a beautiful throwing motion will generate a 20mph break. Use whatever cue you want, to break with...but I'd stay away from the real heavy cue (25 oz), imo.

that's a tough one

try using a Mezz PBII it's shorter and may be easier for you to handle. a Magic Rack would probably help as well. and scott's advice to sit on a phone book, or something to prop yourself up higher would probably benefit you. that being said, i wonder if you can rig a wheelchair up with a hydraulic lift kit?

thanks gentlemen for all your input. tried relaxing and concentrating on hitting the one ball square with a less powerful stroke. seemed to help but still experimenting thanks all

Good to hear this helped a little each persons break is slightly different, so experimentation is good. Remember its not necessarily about hitting the cue ball hard as much is its about putting acceleration into the cue ball. Best of wishes
