How many times have you won that thing! Twice at least with Schmidt. How do you do it! Riki puts on a great show.
Good luck!

Flyer

I actually saw a flyer for this event in the Slick Willie's down here.

Way to promote!!!

still looking for some results....one of my horses still hadn't played his first match at 10pm saturday night....if he won his first match though, he played Lil' John next.

This tournament is so brutal. I heard today they played all night and day until 1 or 2 pm then gave a break until 6 pm. Restarted back with the final 16 players. It didn't even start until almost 6 pm on saturday. They have over 20 forfeits. Not many people want to win or lose their first match and not play again until 2 am because they start so late. They need to have everyone signed up and paid on the thursday before the tournament, do the calcutta on friday, then start play early on saturday. They are losing players for this event. Last year a full 128 and this year was maybe 100. It's a great event. Like I said they didnt start until 6 pm saturday and played non-stop until 1 or 2pm the next day. You don't have time to go get any sleep. You basically have to stay up the full two days straight to play this event.

Just to say it was not a full field of 128. I do know as I was there Saturday. I didn't even sign up until Saturday morning at 11 am. I wasn't going to go because I was up all night playing cards but decided to at the last minute. I had 3 hours of sleep and it was a bad decision to go to a tournament on this little sleep having to stay up two days to play it. I also had not played for 3 days before this and never hit a ball before my match. Needless to say I lost my first match by a freak accident and there was no way I could fade out the rest of the night and next day playing. I just went home and that was at 9 pm Saturday night. I was later called at 5:30 am to play my second match of the tournament. By that time I was sleeping obviously. As I had mentioned above it would really be a great idea to have everyone signed up and paid the Thursday before the tournament and run the calcutta on Friday. They could easily do this. Just a thought.

I called Saturday. There were 90 signed up about a hour before the tourney. If you had someone that could have paid for you and bought you in the calcata. You could have paid them back and not showed until 5.
I started to do just that. But something told me I would be one of the few there not hyped up at dawn and just started woundering how bad my bones would ache for about a week.
The matches are posted with times and you usually have plenty time to break away and sleep but I just didn't feel it.
One of my milloinaire buddys that plays lights out told me he went to watch the ring game. And watched them stink the place up. He said that they really played no better than me or him and missed alot. I told him I knew that!
For $10,000 nothing is easy.
Nick :)

Does anyone happen to know who won the event, and maybe some of the others who cashed in the tournament? Thanks.

Nick,

I think you are mistaken. They never post times with the matches and can't give you an estimated time before you play matches. Best they can say is a few hours or more. I've been there 3 years in a row now and never once have the matches been posted with times. They have too many players and start so late it's impossible for them to post times.

I know HillBilly, Jessie Middlebrooks, and our hoss Chuck Dorsett were in the top 4

I do know there was an argument at the end with just the final 3...HillBilly was playing the person I can't remember that finished 3rd and they kept arguing about racks finally resulting in the other guy breaking his cue down and leaving...which sucked for the person who had him in the calcutta..then from what i understand, went to the person that had him in the calcutta and asked for a piece of it.....this is the story I hear...if you were there and I am wrong, please correct me....I also hear 2 well known 1 pocket players dumped a five figure set.

I think it was Jeremy Jones that quit in 3rd. That's what Joey A. said anyway. A one pocket dump session? Gee, I can think of about 10 people that were there off top of my head that this could be. Dumping makes me so sick. It ruins it for others that would never dump. I know a few guys with a ton of money that have been burnt like this and they have never backed anyone since. Not even with the dead nuts on a game.. I've been backed so many times and never once have I dumped or even thought about it. It's just bad business for everyone in the end. I've even been approached in the bathroom before a match with an offer for me to dump when I had the worst of it. I told the guy to get the f*** away from me with that garbage. It's stuff like this on top of a lot of other things that makes pool what it is. A hustlers game and no more. Pool will never amount to anything more than it is now. Very sad I must say for the rest of us that are not like that.
