Breaking cues down during a tourny

I always wonder is it better to keep your cues together in between matches, or is it better to break them down?

For me it usually depends on how long it is going to be between matches. If it's only going to be 15 minutes I'll probably keep it together. If it is going to be an hour or longer then I'll probably put it away in my case so I can walk around and mingle. It also depends on the location of the tournament and if I can leave my cue out to hit the bathroom and not worry about it getting stolen or not.

The problem is that some idiot will invariably knock over your cues or spill something on them if you are not there to watch over them. I see it all the time where people leave them out and someone kicks out the bottom of them by accident. I prefer to put them away unless I am called directly to another table. They are my prized possessions; why would I not take pristine care of them? :)

I actually wish more people would make it a point to take better care of the equipment. (cues, balls and tables) We all want to play on nice equipment, but no one seems to reprimand the person who bangs the balls on the table or throws their cue down the table into the rail.

I kinda like to put mine away after every match just as a reminder that the next match is not the previous one. Kind of like a restart switch.

As previously said, put them away unless you are going directly from one match to the next.

All depends on where the tourney is and if you value your cues. I have more than once left them together and came back later and they had a huge dent in the shaft cause someone knocked them over. in my opinion if you value your equipment you should break it down when there is a long lul between games and if its just a short time dotn let it out of your sight. no where i go do i have to worry about theft, its the drunks i gotta worry about.

I break them down so some drunk or somebody hopped up on speed doesn't get to jumping around and knock them over. I tend to get a little hot under the collar about my cues, so to avoid an altercation I just put them away.
