Breaking down a Valley bar table???

I'm in the market for a 7ft Valley bar table. It's going to go in the basement. The basement stairway has a few steps, comes to a landing and turns 90 degrees and has a few more steps. I may not need to break the table down, other than removing the legs. But, I was curious how difficult it is to break them down...removing the rails and blinds? Over the years I have broke down my Gold Crown probably 1/2 dozen times and I am fairly mechanically inclined, so putting it back together is not a big deal.

Are they fairly simple to break apart and do they normally go back together easily? I have never looked underneath a table to see how it's constructed. I just thought it might not fit assembled or might be easier if I took some weight off.

Whadda think?

The rails come off very easy, just a few screws if I remember right. This will allow you to lift the slate off. Makes it easier to move because the box itself is about as heavy as the slate.

This is good news. I was thinking it was something like that. So I would leave the rails, pocket corners and blinds all attatched? I am guessing it's basically 4 pieces....legs, slate, underneath construction and then the rails, pocket corners and blinds (all as one piece)?

Thanks
Matt

I'm not sure it can be broken down beyond the legs, slate and rails. It's made of plywood and should be nailed together and cover on the sides with veneer (spelling). I have two and have moved numerous in and out of pool halls and I've never seen anyone break them down farther than the legs and slate. I usually put them on the side and roll with a roller. When you take the slate off and look down in the guts, you'll see how it's made.

I beleive its 3-4 screws per rail.............Lift slate off..........Put table on its side and unscrew the legs in you really have too........screw it all back....level it out...........God I love BarBoxes :)

Ok....thanks for the replies. I will refer back to the thread (if needed) after purchasing my table.

Hi Matt,
That table frame is glued and stapled. It does not breakdown beyond taking the legs, rails, & slate off. I doubt you will get it down stairs with a 90% turn. We have literally cut sheetrock and removed studs to go through walls with those monsters. Best of luck to you!:banghead:
