I use an open bridge about 60% of the time, and I like it because I feel it allows me to aim better. I use a closed bridge the other 40% and I feel that I get much better control with it. On some occasions I will start with an open bridge, aim and do a couple practice stroke, then switch over to the closed bridge, practice stroke again and then fire. There is no rhyme nor reason to the way I play pool sometimes.
