I'm sure we could work something out.

I'm thinking I'd do the event at cost just for the chance to go there.
All expenses paid of course.

A few of us were talking just last night. We are concerned that the Viking tour will not be coming to Pittsburgh since Mr. Pockets closed. We have other options for rooms in the area. Let me know if you need help with setting it up. Thanks.

Eric, I am currently negotiating with Shootz, Breakers, Golden Cue and the other Mr Pockets. I'm sure we will be able to do something.

You could help by telling the room owners what you think of the tour and our turnouts in the area. It's also good to mention that you and your friends will suopport there room if they host one of the Viking Tour events. You could possibly even help distribute flyers in the local area for the room owner. They always appreciate that.

Any help or recommendations you could giv is appreciated.

Thanks,

Mj

Mike, no problem to help out. Roughly when are you looking to come to town? Also, I can help you understand what each room does for you.

Shootz, (they are my 9-ball teams sponser) so I have a good relationship with the management. (14) Valley 9-footers all covered with Simonis 860. Full kitchen and bar.

Breakers, pool only and a vending machine. (8) 6-month old Diamond pro's and (8) Gold Crown III's.

Golden Cue, pool only with vending machine. Roughly (14) Gold crown I's or II's owned by ex-pro Jimmy Marino.

Let me know how you would like me to help. And when your considering. Thanks

Mike,

Where are you going to host your 25K tournament? From feedback of the owner(s) at northfield, they DO NOT want it unless they get more in return ( i know (not guess) that is why their business in general and along with their lame duck handicap touraments has dropped off sugnicantly. Alot of people are not happy with them right now. And I mean people who put up money for sponsership on their behalf. Greed kills business! I will be interested in your reply. Thank you!!

JustPlay, Thanks for your insight. I am aware of the situation, however not everything is as it seems. We are currently discussing the positives and negatives of this situation with the owners of the establishment. It's not the cost or the benefits that are the problem, it's the amount of work each of us has to put into it versus the return.

Northfield Billiards along with the owners have always been a true promoter of our sport ! I say this with much respect and appreciation. I'm sure that in time everything will work out just fine. I don't think it's the greed factor at the establishment, it's probably more just that they are not in sinc with each other at the moment (The 4 owners). In there defense, I applaud them for there monthly $1,000 added events for there regular players. I'm sure (POSITIVE) they don't profit from those monthly events. In addition they host many Viking Tour events through the year and have had our Nationals for the last 2 years. So me thinks that kills the greed factor.

As far as the weekly event participation declining---- I'ts the summer months, it happens every year. Take a vacation like the rest of us.

Respectfully,

Mj

Mike,

I realize you are staying postive on the subject and I understand you have a tour to run, also that they host some of your events. However, knowing each of the owners as I do and watching (them closely) how each of them are ruining their business over the last couple of years I can be critical of them. Talking with them over the last few months on the subject of hosting the main event, they plan on being wishy washy on the subject until the date of the tournament approches closer so you will have to give into their demands with no other place to go. And the other reasons they want more in return is because, they have pissed off alot of people who have actually financially sponsored the Viking tour event on their (Northfields) behalf on the added monies in the 25K event and now those people no longer want anything to do with them! So now they are in a bind! and the only way for them to go is to negotiate with you. This last winter was a financial disaster for them and their 1K added events are every couple of months with an average of 20 players! They used to average about 40-50 players. They definitly need to see a business consultant! Personally I like each of the owners. But they don't know how to run a business. As far a promotion of the sport-A BIG FAT ZERO! EXAMPLE: this weekend July 16-18th is a wheelchair tournament at Northfield Billiards and only a handful of people know about it.
Mike, I (along with a lot of other people) would love to see your 25K event again at northfield billiard the place itself is a excellent location to host it. The last couple of years of the national tournament has be nothing less then EXCELLENT on your behalf. I just don't want to see your event comprimised by a group of non-business people!
You don't have to respond to this, just beaware of the situation. Keep up the good work.

Thanks!
