Instead of bringing a cue ball, I bring my ENTIRE SET of balls! This way, I have consistent ball reactions throughout the set since they are definitely of the same size & density.
I think it's useless that you bring a cb & use it on a different set, which may have been used for quite a long time, and even quite frequently, therefore has reduced in size & even in density. You might as well play with the cue ball that the house's set came with in the first place. I believe that accuracy is being sacrificed if you use a cue ball of a different size as the rest of the set. :wink:
@mosconiac: I believe the reason behind why the lower balls such as #1 become "lighter" over time than the upper balls is that the lower balls are used more often (hence wear out faster) than the upper balls. I believe this has something to do with the popularity of the game of 9-ball and even 10-ball. Therefore, if you have complete set of balls, it's best to use all the balls once in a while for a more even wear.
