I'm doing a table for a customer who insists that he have the "cloth they use on British snooker tables..."

Is there a cloth manufacturer in the UK?

Could be Simonis. Possibly Riley, Strachan or Hainsworth (Made in UK). All make snooker-specific cloth.
Cloth used on UK tables isn't necessarily made in the UK - so I'd lay it back on the customer to
specify what brand of cloth he wants.

Simonis 4000 is readily available in the US.

They are probably thinking of the Strachan West of England cloth made by Milliken.

I agree. I would probably let them specify their brand. Snooker cloth like the Simonis 4000 is not like 860 or 760. It's more fuzzy and is definitely directional. It is smoothe one way and rough the other. Like the fur on a dogs's back. When properly installed it has to be ironed. I have a friend that's a table mechanic "fitter" in England. We met in Vegas in June for the trade show and had dinner several nights. It was very interesting talking with him about the way he does things. I would love to go visit him and work with him for a week sometime. Always love learning something new, ya know.

And generally 100% wool. The type of wool usually being the difference in the brands.
