Broken Shaft :(

My jump/break shaft has recently decided to quit me

Cue Maker says $150min for a replacement

Boss hears I'm looking for a new cue, offers up a lat '80s Viking for $100

Viking is in fine condition and happens to have a very stiff shaft

Currently shooter: Lucasi (slightly cocked A-joint) w/ custom shaft

EVIL PLAN...
Have stiff Viking shaft installed on jump/break cue

Have custom shaft fitted to Viking butt

Total cost = $225 (Viking purchase + conversion costs)

Put original shaft on Lucasi, sell it to recoup some cost

Whaddya think?

1. Change games and stop jumping balls.
2. Play with the Viking.
3. Get the custom shaft fit to the Viking.
4. Learn to shoot with a stiff shaft
5. Toss the Lucasi in the garbage.

hehehehe

problem seems to be that the jump/break shaft broke.
I recommend getting a j&j jump/break cue for about $60-$80.
Problem solved.

If you are unsatisfied with the quality of your lucasi (playing cue) get a predator shaft for it. I don't see the viking as improving your situation.

take care

Fun post, thanks

Am learning 1 pocket

Hate stiff shafts, is there an advantage I am missing out on?

Buy the viking break with a house cue. You save $125.

And lose my security blanket?!?! *eek* :)

Note: that $125 includes a new wrap for the Viking (not needed, just want it better)

Or for $75 more you could get a custom jump break cue made to specs.

I'd still have a crooked shooter

The j/b is a 15 yr old custom that I had bought used 5 years ago

I think the right thing to do would be to replace the shaft ,leave the Viking original, and modify the custom shaft to fit the Vike.

My cheaper option is to use the Viking shaft instead of a custom j/b replacement

The cost will probably be a bit less than quoted because I happen to have an insert and canvas tip that would work great on that j/b.

I'll custom fit it for 100.00

Typically that entails: matching rings if applicable, 14mm shaft with my exclusive phenolic impregnated leather tip !

However, I will alter it to your specifications if desired !!!

If you're interested give me a call anytime !
