Brunswick Medallion question

I play in a pool hall that is run by a non-pool type owner. He recently had the tables recovered including new rails installed.

I have long been critical of the fact that most of the 8 or so Medallion tables have only 4, 5 or 6 rail bolts installed (there are a total of 18 top rail bolt holes)... causing all of the tables to play noticeably dead.

He was told by the table mechanic that the bolt holes were stripped and that to repair the damage would be expensive, so the owner opted to not have the repair done.

I say bullshit... how can that many bolt holes be stripped.

Questions: Can the bolt holes get stripped on a Medallion? Do the bolts screw into metal inserts... or just the wood of the top rails?

Thanks!

They screw into metal inserts that when the bolts were tightened they were over torqued!

I say bullshit... how can that many bolt holes be stripped. Because the guy that recovered the tables was just as clueless as the guy that is doing the work now or possibly the same guy!

If a Medallion is the same as a Medalist you can definatly over torque the rail bolts and bend the flat washer insert. If the hack before you used an electric drill or over cranked the wrench you will find alot of bad inserts. I'm sure other mechanics in here have seen the same thing.

Table

Never heard or seen of such a table named medallion...

The thin stamped sheet metal nut plates in the medalist are simple to replace especially when the cushions are removed.
