Brunswick question

Happy Day before Taxes to everyone.

Just curious why I don't seem to see a lot about Brunswick cues? The name has been around a long time...and at one time they were respected. But what's happened to that brand? One comment stated Brunswick cues were jp production cues...but I am not able to find where Brunswick cues are made and by whom...I would expect they are now made in China like most everything else in the United States. Of all the cue brands I see the least attention/respect paid to Brunswick...why??

My favorite stick is my Schon. Love the solid feel and 'hit' but I don't feel good about taking it to some of the places where I have to shoot these days.

Looking for something less glitzy (inexpensive enough that losing it would not be a disaster) but with that same firm solid hit...

Thanks for your comments in advance...

The older cues get a lot of praise, especially the Titlist 1 piece and the Willie Hopped Professional.

The last 30 or more years, Brusnwick farmed out their cues. Joss and Falcon both furnished cues for Brunswick for a while.

It's been a long time since Brunswick actually made cues.

If you like Schon, why not just get a plain Schon, perhaps even used, if you are concerned about the loss if it were damaged/stolen/etc?

There are a lot of relatively inexpensive options for players though, both new and used, production like your Schon, or even custom.

I have owned and played with both a Viking cue and a Pechauer cue.
I had always wanted a Viking and when I finally got one, I thought it sucked.
The Pechauer had a great 'feel' but this particular cue had a very 'flexible' shaft...sold them both- at a loss.

The first time I held the Schon was the first time I have ever experienced love at first stroke (except for one time in 1961 in the back seat of a chevy)

I have never felt a stick that hit quite like the Schon. Solid and sure. It was a bit heavy for my taste but I have gotten used to it. Guess I am asking too much to find a less expensive cue that hits so well, although I have read many, many good things about Joss. I have also read that Pechauer has a 'stiff' hit so maybe mine was an exception.

I'm down in Florida...Tampa and Jacksonville. All the big time pool halls are gone. Baker's Billiards in Downtown Tampa was an institution. Always a game with cash on the table. History now.

Now, it's hard to even find a pool hall (except in a bar) that isn't seedy and getting seedier as the beer flows late into the evening. Used to be a Six Pockets in Tampa...and one in Jax...gone now.

But I digress as they say. I would sure be interested in hearing your cue suggestions.

I had an old steel jointed Mali that played and felt exactly like a good schon.

Brunswick = Vietnam /Asia

I worked for a division of Brunswick ....the tables are made in Vietnam and the Cues China.

The Brunswick cue listed for $700 I could have bought at employee discount for $235....I live in Wisconsin and have a Pechauer P08 and a P10pro taper..nice cues for me.

Also I bought an Olhausen table even though I could have gotten a smoking deal on a Brunswick table.
