i was hoping for one last tournament, but i got a call today from the manager of the pub where i run a weekly tournament and she told me there would be no tournament tomorrow  last week i was told we would have one more, but today it was decided there would be no more. i wouldnt be pissed if there were other tournaments to play or even leagues but there aren't. noone even plays for money in this town, and if i go play at the pubs people get on my back sayin i take the fun outta the game because i play too serious, but too me the game is fun when im winning not when im banging balls trying to bank every shot or do "trick shots" like their amazing 3 banks in the corner  goin to the pool halls is outta the question too as none of my friends feel the same way about pool as i do.

sorry just had to vent...

i guess its time i move to a place where pool is taken a bit more seriously :D

When I was 18-years-old, I realized I was in-love with the game and had to let many of my good friends go because of it. It's really simple and you see it happen with almost everyone. Eventually, you gotta do what makes you happy. At the time, many of them didn't understand it and would blatantly ask, "What are you doing playing alone?" Well, it's been some time since i was 18 and most of them wish for a day, they knew what it was like to be really good at something they really loved. Let's just say they don't ask that question any more.

i dont mind playing alone, i do it all the time and will continue to do so. it's just i like the competition i love winning(who doesn't) and maybe i sound crazy but i dont mind losing either (aslong as i learn from it) its the feeling of competing i have just never been able to replicate when playing by myself.

hey, unknown, go to poolcomps.com. Its not quite the same but the competition is very serious. I've been playing pool since 1961 and I've always been a money player(small money). I could always find a game. I've since moved to a new community where there are plenty of tables around and an amazing amount of talent but these guys think its a big deal if you play a race to five for 2 bucks! Frustrates the hell out of me but like you I don't want to make enemies by pushing too hard. If nothing else in L.A. we could always get a banger to buy our beers all night. Here they would think playing for a beer a game (what? $2.50?) and they were betting the deed to their car. I play about 3-4 hours a day on 9- footers, come home and play 9 ball on poolcomps for about 2 hrs. I'd rather hit by myself for 2 hours then get into one of their partner 8 ball games but they're nice guys and I can't say no. What the hell. It's still great to hit a good shot but it would be nice if the adrenalin was pumping like it used to when their was 5 0r 10 bucks on a game of nine ball. No big deal for the big shots that post here but I lived for it. Hey, I'm venting too. Maybe it's time for you to move on to the pool halls as your next step. Or put your stick up for auction on e-bay. Maybe it's time for me to move on too. If I get out of this community I can find action. But its the unknown. I'd be everybodies pigeon for awhile. And the wife would be pissed. But it's gotta happen. Just lettin' you know you ain't alone . Keep on strokin'.

Not sure if you're interested, but Ken (krbsailing) runs a weekly Sunday tourney outta his place in Bellingham. Starts @ 4pm. I'm gonna head up there one of these Sundays.

There is also a Sunday shoot in Alger that starts @ 6pm that can pull all types of players...quite the eclectic bunch...Lol. But Alger is a little bit further south, but not too much.

Also, there is always a shoot on Saturday's in Sedro Woolley @ The Overflow, that one starts @ 8pm. I do not shoot in that one anymore, as when I can afford to play, I prefer Alger at the moment.

i do play on poolcomps my username is unkn0wn, i enjoy it once and a while but very much prefer the real thing (tournaments that require real skill) sorry i dont mean to sound harsh but a lot of people there use rulers to play the game. as for selling my cue and moving on... one word NEVER!!!!!!! i may sell the frey and play with the dufferin but i will never sell all my cues and stop playing the game i love. these past few weeks i have been contemplating moving to Vancouver bc, i have a lot of family and friends there, and there are plenty of places to play there. thanks for the heads up lisa if i do move to vancouver i may just make the trip to bellingham, but as it sits right now, 1000km is a bit far to travel for a tournament lol.
