I respectfully disagree. I do not see what would be wrong by someone posting a cue was stolen or photos stolen from somewhere else to make it less likely a transaction might occur.

It is still buyer beware, but if you posted your friends cue match a one-of-one cue for sale on this forum, I would appreciate the help is not buying stolen or suspect goods.

Certainly, I support AZ as a gold member, but that is my choice.
To help fund AZ, perhaps the old t-shirt sales or AZ name-tags for cases is a better way to strum up funds.

Someone selling a $10K cue will not want to pay the same fee for selling a cue as a $120 cue.

Bumps are not killing the economy.

bumps themselves are not the issue. bumping the same thread with overpriced items for months every 48 hours is a problem. if your item has not sold in two or three weeks there is an issue, either the item is not desirable or the price it wrong. and then coming down an insignificant amount makes it worse. if someone didn't make on offer on your 1k cue coming down $25 isn't the answer. first off the summertime is always a little slow for the most part and also the economy isn't the same as a few years ago.

i look every day at the wfs section and the good stuff at the right price goes quick, almost immediately in most cases. that should tell you something right there. if someone makes you a fair offer and you don't take it and the bump the item for six more weeks shouldn't you think there's a problem? common sense would tell you to leave it alone and if not maybe there should be a rule about how long an item can stay in the wfs section. i think most of the complaining is done by the ads that are there the longest.

just my two cents and i know not everyone will see it this way, no problem.

I agree... so the new rule is, if someone bumps a sale with anything other than "i'll take it", then it cannot be bumped by seller for 4 days after that bump... if someone else chimes in, that it can't be bumped 8 days from the bump from seller..

Eventually, the sellers will have to say, "Please, no bumps"
 
It has been a buyer's market for some time but many sellers have ads with cobwebs on them waiting for that home run.

Many cues are not for sale and some sellers express their feeling privately that if such and such doesn't sell they will keep it. That is a cue that is not for sale.
 
I haven't read all of the replies, nor do I need to. This forum has the most ridiculous rules for a "for sale" section of any board i have ever visited ! I agree, it's a detriment.

I don't honestly see where it would make any difference. If you were trying to sell something here, and it didn't sell, then it isn't in demand. It has nothing to do with what other folks are doing or not doing. It has to do with your item not being wanted.

My sig is a cue I've got listed. Quite clearly, it is not in demand because it is still for sale. I don't even bother with bumping the thread because I'm pretty sure with 1000 views, anyone who looks at the FS section already saw it. If there were going to buy, they've have bought it by now.

I bumped it a few times and it got to 1000 views within no time. If 1K views didn't sell it, then page 50 is a great place for it.

(I'm not sure it's even as high as page 50). :lol:
 
The main issue as I view it is that a cue might go to page 10 in two days. I believe this is largely due to so many different things. A solution would be listings by category; production cues, custom cues under $2000, $2000-$4000, over $4,000, tables, misc. Bumping limited by time tbd, no comments other than sale questions and a listing form to be completed to cover questions like specs etc to decrease friends bumping friends. This should allow sellers to remain up front longer in their category. Bump 48 hours or tbd.

Finally, an annual membership add on fee to get access to this section for everyone who uses once a year, IE: $50, but no charge per listing or purchase.
 
I don't think it's the 'bumping rules' per se. The summer has been brutally slow, but the bigger problem is the state of the industry. The market is flooded with products and has been for several years. It seems it's an ever-shrinking pool of real customers here in the US....aka 'cue glut'.

With respect to the WFS section, I think having these rules without meaningful moderation is a mistake. Creating a handful (at max) of subsections to break things up could definitely help the overall experience for users, but it's been suggested many times before. And one last observation about the idea of interjecting more fees above and beyond the Gold level ....there will be an exodus of people here. This site is comprised of pool players after all. :(

This site needs active members and participation. I don't know if anyone has noticed, but there has been waning participation from long-standing members for some time. Whatever the reasons, that is not really a good sign for AZB, pool in general, etc.

Just a few of my thoughts, and as always, would like to read others.
 
Subsections will require additional moderation to ensure that postings are properly classified.

I am also not convinced they would be as effective as not allowing comments.

I personally don't see a problem with a four day bumping rule. It is tedious to see the same items at the top of the section over and over. These items that don't sell are overpriced or in some cases, simply not desirable.

I've seen some ads that have been bumped for months and months. These cues are overpriced.

I personally use the search function for what I am seeking (Palmers/Paradises).
