Burl

I know things get a little slow around here this time of year but let's not go making a mountain out of a mole-hill.
To be clear, I wasn't knocking anyone though you seem to think I was. Let's blame that on perception.
I expressed amazement that everyone up to that point was willing to jump on board to buy something they hadn't even seen yet.
That still strikes me as amazing.

Generally, when you offer something for sale you show a pic so the buyer has at least an idea of what they're buying.
Without the pic, you're buying a 'horse in the blind'. Was that terminology confusing to anyone??
Your own analogy was: "Like pigs at the trough". So now I get to be the bad-guy here. OK, I'll be your huckleberry.
Knocking people??? Where the hell did you get that??? I wasn't knocking anyone, I was expressing amazement.
Surely, an intelligent man such as yourself would know the difference.
At least I didn't refer to them as pigs.

In what way did I offend the seller? Obviously, the seller took offense because he wanted to.
I, like everyone else was asking for pics. 12-1/2 hrs latter he decides to post some.
Go over to the F/S section where they have a nifty little banner that says: "This thread is useless without pics".
I said the same thing except in my own charming style. My literary license doesn't expire.

"And you offend the seller at a level that causes them to retract their generosity?"
I see that your literary license is still very much valid as well.
His retraction was at best childish. "I'm taking my ball and going home".
And you want an apology for this??? Get real.

Not one person said "I'll take it.....I don't care what it looks like or how much it costs".

Alot of people said they would be interested in pictures and pricing.

Most of the time I agree with you. I this case, what you said is wrong.

KJ-
Well, I retract my admonishment and write it off to misunderstanding and lack of coffee and indeed, apologize to you for me probably getting unreasonably emotional and weird over a piece of wood. Wood's not worth bad feelings, period.
The wood being spoken of was extremely rare stuff, in fact, I've never even had an opportunity to even see any first hand, let alone actually have a chance to obtain some and yes, I was like an expectant pig at the trough waiting for the good stuff. Oink, oink.
I like 'em anyhow; those pigs are smart, and if I did not live in the city chances are small that I would not own some, but that's another matter.

Jay-
You were very generous with your offer and it's too bad you've decided to retract it but of course, it's your call. As I said, I've never even seen the stuff first hand...I'll bet it's swell stuff.
KJ is a good guy for a farmer and was not criticizing but rather, shaking his head in wonder. I heard the rattle and went off. Old guys sometimes go off.
At this point the wood is no longer the issue; the issue is that we are not all getting along just swell like we were just a short time ago and that's not good for piece and tranquility and happy cuemaking.
KJ meant no offense, neither did I, and neither did you, so perhaps let's not take any.
Life's too short for it.

And now, back to (yawn) turning shafts....
