What is the difference between Amboyna Burl and Thuya Burl?
I seen both in cues on here but really haven't seen a difference. Pretty sure it's the computer not showing all the detail but just curious thanks.

Two different trees. Amboyna Burl comes from SE Asia and the Philippines where as Thuya comes from Morocco. Thuya is dug up as it comes mostly from the root or part of the tree that grows underground. The upper part is often blown away by the arid surroundings. There is no Amboyna tree per se but it comes from the burl of a tree that is an Eastern relative of the Padauk and is called Narra.
Thuya tends to be a chocolate brown color with varying shades and Amboyna goes from blonde to gold to red in color. Over all Thuya has more birdseye figure and Amboyna has more swirl than eyes. This does not always hold true, but is a good general rule. Thuya seems a little heavier also.
