Burn Marks

was just wondering if the burn marks/white streaks that eventually show up on the cloth possibly effect play at all?

i am talking about the burn marks associated with the spot where you usually break from. that, plus the streak going up the table where the cue ball slides into the rack.

do these in any way, shape, or form affect the play of the table? can they possibly throw a ball offline? or is the only negative aspect the fact that these burn marks make the cloth look tacky?

I know on my home table that the ball an rest on one when taking a very slow roll towards my breaking spot. My breaking spot has a bunch of them in one spot and it is alike a small indentation there.

This summer will have been 2 years with the same felt anyway, Im due for a new recovering.

I dont really get any strange rolls out if it though, if the ball is heading slow enough to that area it will stop like I said, but chances are at the speed it was going it was going to stop right around there anyway, its not bad enough to throw the ball off course when at a slightly higher speed though. That goes the same for the line made from breaking from the same spot as well. it doesnt effect any rolls at all for me, neither does the small single spots in other areas caused by jumping occasionally.

IMHO, around the spot is the most noticable place that is affected and then down the rails. But most times it depends on how soft the ball is rolling. Slow rolls show alot of problems either with cloth and/or table.
