This cue is likely a full splice cue. Late 60's, very solid player.

How do you tell it's a Balabuska?
These old cues this style all look the same to me.
The first thing you do.. is you post pictures on the internet and let 40 people that have never seen one, tell you it is, or isn't. :ROFLMAO: That is a joke....
Takes experience and seeing enough of them to know. Then you send it to Pete Tascarella and get a letter.

I like Joe's answer on this one. First, ask a bunch of people what they think.

Seriously, there are many clues. A Spain blank, a Gus blank, or a Davis blank have different lengths and looks to them. Also the buttsleeve usually has a certain length to it. The butt is usually a bit thicker than many of today's, something like 1.30 to 1.32 inches at the buttplate. Even if it's been restored, it probably has a brown Brunswick KU bumper. If it's the original bumper, it's probably a bit worn. Then, if you can get into the buttcap, there was a certain way that George did the weight bolt, usually different from today's makers. If it's original, you should look for a certain finish. It's very distinct, not like today's two-part finishes. There are a bunch of other things.

And yep, send it to Pete.

All the best,
WW
