Bustamante cue?

Alex was using a Predator Vantage shaft at the derby city classic last year. He played against a friend of mine. I got a picture with him and he was holding his cue in it and you can clearly see the Predator/Vantage logo in the picture.

Yeah, this is what I remember him using. I'm sure by this time next year, we'll be seeing him with a Revo...

l.
Alex won all his best titles with LD shafts....but lately he sees some advantage with
having a little defection....you may have noticed that he’s changed cues back and forth
in many matches...one of the shafts is solid wood...I’ve hit a bunch with it.

That says a lot about his game, if he can switch at will, like that....geez.

Every time I try a LD, it takes hours, to train my minds eye. Then, when I return to my normal shaft, I have to re-adjust again.

Maybe my minds eye is a little off.:frown:

His stroke

After years of watching his stroke, I am still in awe of how he does it. His cue moves all over, his back hand moves all over, I never know where he is going to hit the cue ball until I see the cue ball move. It is to me, one crazy stroke that is unique to him and he has mastered it.

I do not ever remember seeing him in a video using a Diveney cue. Pat Diveney has made cues for very well known top tier players. But, when a big dollar sponsor comes along the pro goes where the money is, who can blame them.

Vanboening, Biado, Lee Vann, Luat, J. Pinnegar, have all had Diveney cues and Bergman uses a Diveney Kiel Wood shaft, I am sure there are more. But, it is a testament to the skill level of these pros that they have the ability to quickly adjust to new cues and tables.

I am a Diveney cue fan, but as great as his cues hit, I can't seem to be any thing special at the table, woe is me! But, I do believe I shoot "my best game" because of Diveney cues.

But wait, my new Diveney Kiel Wood LD shaft should be here next week. If I get it and learn the "Busty" stroke, I will be better.

In my recent observations, only some of the PI younger guns have started to use LD.

Efren and Busty, as mentioned, prefer solid maple. So does Lee Van (Diveney cue with original shaft).

Biado defineitely uses a Pred shaft (I think also a Diveney cue, but am not 100%), as does Ignacio - he had an original 314.

Chua is a young guy and he plays with a sweet ebony SW.

I didn’t pay attention to what DeLuna plays with. I know Roberto Gomez also has his “Superman” Diveney, but I’m not sure of which shaft he uses either.

Roberto's "Superman" cue is a custom made by Eddie Cohen. Not sure what shaft Eddie fit to it

Thanks, I thought he was using a LD.

He did.
He was using a mezz hp2 when he beat Shane in the race to 100 10ball during his mezz sponsorship days.

Also he was using a predator vantage shaft on a carmeli titlist butt when lost a hill-hill match to Jayson shaw in the world pool masters semi-finals.

Thats all i can confirm o my knowledge.

It would be interesting, if anyone knows, how many of the Pinoys use a LD.
I know Efren and Busty don't really care for them, but Alex does.

Just look at how they aim shots with spin, Bustamante aims so far out, on some shots it looks like he won't even touch the object ball.
