how about these two play over a course of a month, straight pool, to 500 points. 8-ball race to 20. 9-ball race to 60. one pocket race to 11. straight rail billiards to 300 points. 3-cushion billiards to 90 points. snooker race to 15. the winner gets 10 million dollars. the loser gets $10,000. a big difference!! the winner gets to brag he's the greatest player in the world. i would guess it would be quite even, although i'd take bustamante in carom and souquet in pocket billiards.

Very interesting idea (way too interesting for it ever to happen). However they would probably agree to a saver, or fix the match to make more side money - and we still wouldn't know who is better. Maybe they better play for their own money (complete bank accounts, mortgages, pink slips, and first born children) - then we would know for sure.

Over the course of a month? As slow as Souquet plays it'll take a year.

Bustamante would rob him. I know Ralf really well and he has a tough time with Bustamante. It is always those two in the finals of many German tournaments and Busta has the way better record.

Ralf would probably hold his own in Straight Pool and possibly in nine ball. Bustamante would kill him in One Pocket. Busta would probaly take the billiards as well given ho style. Eight ball might be pretty even.

Both of them play in the German National League which is a league of pretty much world class players and they both play 8 and 9 ball as well as 14.1 in that league.

Ouch, you are right. Souquet would insist on using a calendar for the shot clock instead of a stopwatch.

Actually Souquet's pace has picked up a lot in the last few years and he feels that it is better for his game.

Ralph and Marcus took 3 hours and 15 minutes in their race to 11 match at the Bike this January.

LOL - How long would it have taken at Ralf's OLD pace. :-)

nice replys!! i guess i posted this, because in 2003, there was a tye, of who was the "player of the year" pool and billiards magazine said it was souquet. and billiards digest said bustamante. so i said, let's not just have those two play 9-ball, because that does not prove who the greatest is, let's have them play ALL cuesports!

Ralph was in slow motion most of the tournament.
So Marcus matched him during their match. Marcus had BALL in HAND on the case game after Ralph scratched. Marcus hooks himself on the 6-ball ( near the side, opposite the 7-ball) after making the 5 on the corner and going two rails towards the 6. The crowd MOANED as this was midnight. The two started on the seconds session of the night at 9 PM. Why didn't the crowd just leave? Well, Efren and Alex were up next and it was the WorldPool match.
Marcus kicks and leaves Ralph an open shot. He runs out after a few poses here and there. Marcus leaves the room kicking his water bottle. lol Marcus tried to go to the rest room before that but the tourney assistant to Williams grabbed him and ordered him to finish the match. lol
We left the Bike around 2 am. Efren and Alex finished their match in less than 2 hours. Not once do I remember either one taking more than a minute to shoot.

snooker race to 15? that's gonna take days for ralkf to finish....and i can't even picture busta playing snooker with that sloppy stroke.
