IBM PCs are now Lenovo

IBM sold their PC company to a Chinese outfit called Lenovo a year or two ago. They never could make money in the PC world after the first 10 years of explosive growth. Very typical in the computer industry; Grow like gangbusters, then implode.
The ThinkPad brand is still alive, but it is now a Lenovo PC.

Honestly, I'd go with an IBM. It's what I had before Dell. Their warranties are comparable to anyone else. Also, their customer service is helpful, as is their tech support. As your computer gets older, upgrades will be a necessity. IBM is gonna be around for awhile, so upgrading won't be a problem. From what reviews at PCworld, Wired etc IBM notebook batteries last longer than HPs, Compaqs, Dells. Their Thinkpad's have a biometric thumbprint scan.

Or you could always go with a Mac. Like the previous poster said, it's a matter of opinion. I'm by no means an expert. I just feel that there is a better computer, with less of a hassle as far as servicablity than Dell.

Isn`t it the responsibility of Cingular informing the buyers that their card does not fit certain computers?
One time I wrote a letter to them saying that `they lowered the bar.`( their advertisement says they raised the bar)

Normally I would say yes but I understand it to be something very new and not very well known. Only one person at the store knew about this the day that I took it in to find out what the problem was. I signed up at a different store and I don't believe any of them were aware of this.

They were very accomodating and promptly cancelled my service. I would hope that in the very near future all companies that provide cellular cards will be informed so that they can inform the consumer. The computer companies are the ones that changed things and I assure you they didn't go out of their way to point this out in any of the paperwork sent to me with the computer. They're the only ones that stand to make money off of this. The cellular companies do not sell the adaptors, the computer companies do. ;)

I remember reading about that. Something where it puts them in the top 5 computer companies in the world. Ok with me, doesn't mean the Chinese can't make a good PC.
