Buying a new cue and have questions

Drawback

I am hell-bent on purchasing a new BMC Pro-1 cue from Budget Billiards and would like to know if anyone has ever shot with the Pro-series (with the G-10 pin set up). On the web site it says unless the player is a 6 or better, they won't be able to use the stick that well.
I've won lots of local matches and practice around 25 hours per week and I think I'd like to have this stick. I'll order the 11.25mm Ultimate weapon shaft with it. Any replies? Thanks in advance.

...and that does not strike you as odd?

...it does not sound like pure marketing hype to you?

I'll be interested in the responses you get on this matter. I have not touched one myself.

WOW !!! With the shaft added you're looking at $820, but it does say it is for PRO PLAYERS ONLY....... so that leaves me out,LOL.

Everybody has their own preference, but I would never drop that kind of money on a Meucci. Way too many customs available in that price range and even lower.

When you say "Custom" how will I know that such a butt and shaft will be better than a Meucci? For example, I know several builders who make hand-made guitars and mandolins that are absolutely beautiful to look at and to hold, but they do not match the tonal qualities of the old standbys like Gibson.:)

I'm very much aware of the "hype" associated with the advertising. It's just that I truly do like shooting with the Power Piston butt and the UW shaft. I'm more interested in knowing about the G-10 pin and how that plays in to it all.:)

I was hoping that Bob Meucci or one of his associates would happen to read this post and answer me. But, to no avail so far.

I have never seen him on the forum.

But now I understand why you posted in the cue makers forum. :)

Of course, if you really want to talk to Bob Meucci, why not contact him?

I think the answer to that is that to avoid any commercial "hype" I'd like to have him post his answer(s) here in front of many knowledgeable players in an open forum.

Except for the addition of rings and the use of a different pin, how does the BMC Pro Series 1 differ from a basic $250 Power Piston Demo Cue?

"I am hell-bent on purchasing a new BMC Pro-1 cue from Budget Billiards and would like to know if anyone has ever shot with . . . . "

I think that pretty much sums it up guys. My guess, and it's only a guess, is that he was looking for affirmation of his predetermined choice.

To the OP, this is primarily a cuemaker's forum - we MAKE our own cues. While many here are pretty good players, we don't generally shoot with a variety of other cuemaker's products. Looking for a recommendation of someone else's cue here is like going to the Chevy dealer and asking for opinions on Ford or Dodge products.

Perhaps you would get better responses in the Main Forum, which is visited by many, many players using all kinds of different cues.

My 2 cents,

Gary

I would consider just about any other option in that price range....based on the examples of their cues I've seen in person lately. Love their old cues, though.

I wish I could answer that question. I've searched all over the place to find the answer, but it still escapes me. (My short answer would be "Other than the pin and some inlay, I see no appreciable difference, except in price".)

That seems to be a common feeling. I would say the same thing.
