Has anyone played with the I Shaft (1,2,3)from McDermott? If so could you give me some thoughts on it (good or bad) I'm currently looking for a new shaft and would like to look at all options. How would it compare to all the other shafts available today?

No experience but from what I hear the Universal shaft is a hands down favorite.

Too bad DM is banned because he owns them all and has given great analysis on this before.

I know someone who raved about the Universal shaft when he first got it: best hitting shaft he'd ever used, etc. Some time later, after he had 3 of their joints break on him, which they of course replaced free of charge, he wasn't such a happy camper. No longer plays with it. I don't recall the *exact* words he had for it, but they wouldn't be repeatable here in any case.

I was thinking about purchasing an I-shaft as well. Surely someone has tried them out.

All the posts I have seen say the I-shafts are a strong competitor to the predator 314 and z shafts but I haven't seen any info on likes/dislikes, how it improved the persons game etc...

Wow, I haven't heard of that happening but I wouldn't be too happy either.

I bought an I shaft about a year ago. I think it is a good shaft but to be honest I haven’t really given it a chance. It is lighter than my 314 and that takes some getting used to. I’m not really very finicky about equipment but the weight difference is enough that it stays in my case for the time being.

I've used the I2 shaft and it is a lot better IMO than either 314 that I have used. I don't use one today because I like custom shafts that come with the cues, but if you are in the market for an I2,

Thanks for the reply Roscoe, I cant afford a custom right now so Im having my D-19 refinished instead thats why I am looking for a new shaft.

Tim, find someone with an OB-1 and try it. I have tried them all and when you finally get the right tip combo for your game it is a great shaft.
