Buying a used gold crown, what to look for?

Im looking to buy a Brunswick gold crown table in the near future, but i'm unsure of what to look for?
For starters i'm wondering if it makes a huge difference what generation GC i buy?
Is there any dead giveaways (besides the obvious ones like cracked slate etc.) when i should walk away from a deal?
Any guides for restoring GC tables out there?

Thanks :)

Arm yourself with the costs associated with different repairs.... You can get 2nd hand or new replacement parts from several sources but some things have to be done by a mechanic like redoing subrails during cushion replacement if you will want to tighten the pockets....

You will likely want to upgrade the rail anchors and you may want to have a ball return installed if you get one sans the return....

The GC1 is usually everyone's pick but once the anchors are upgraded models won't matter as far as how they play....

Any GC in good condition is a good choice....my .2
Generation differences. The IV does not have the In Rail Score Keeper.(not a negative). The metal pocket covers are high....not flush with the rails. I'm real cautious when bridging flat on them with my custom cue.

Do you have an installer lined up. Maybe you can talk to them first. Maybe they will go with you when you look at a table. Some installers have reconditioned GC's.
