Calcutta Idea?

What do you guys think of a calcutta raffle. For the pick of the field you sell raffle tickets at 5$ a ticket. If you win you get a pick of the field spot. Then the player they buy can buy themselves for half of the ticket investment. So if you got 4 tickets, they could buy half for 10$. It's a nice bonus for the best guy there, it can bring more seed money into the calcutta and it gets people involved that wouldn't spend a few hundred on a guy so they don't participate at all.

Maybe it's been done before, but I haven't heard of it.

Not a bad idea, but I don't like the potential slowdown it would have on getting the tournament started. If the tickets were sold at sign up only, or during a predetermined time only it would work. Blind bids are good for me.

I like the idea of blind bids too. I was thinking about that earlier and I thought that would hold it up even longer. I think you could whip through the raffle almost as quickly as an auction though.
