Thought I would explain a bit of how the numbers were arrived on my stats.
First let me say, I was a little worried I might have bit off more that I could chew with trying to do this. And I was right!

Trying to determine how many balls they made on the break and go right into commenting on the game and then into making sure I have the number right for balls made by each person and then putting in who one and changing the score and trying to upload the file before the action starts again. 9 ball is a fast game and Scott is certainly never going to take long to shoot and Shane only stops once in a while to figure out a shot. I literally had no time to stand up, take a leak, get something to drink the whole time until they had a break halfway thru. My a$$ was SORE.
I also was a little hesitant about putting up updates during the match, because I in no way want to have a negative effect on any PPV's. So, please go ahead and buy the PPV, these are 2 of the highest caliber pool players your going to find and such a long race, you will see things you will never see in a tournament or any other kind of action. Seeing all the effort and money TAR puts into these shows, they deserve and need every penny they can get to make it cost-effective for them.
Now about the stats.....
Break - I'm simply putting a 1 in there on who's breaking so the spreadsheet can add it up.
Balls on Break - how many balls on the break they made. I was faced with a dilemma on making balls on the break and scratching. I included the balls on the break even when they scratched.
9 ball on break - If they make the 9 on the break in the bottom 2 corner pockets, it does not count. So, even though there were 2 of those I believe, they don't show up, because they were not legal 9's on the break and didn't result in a win, they were spotted back up. Interesting, there were no 9 balls kicked in another of the 4 pockets in 79 games.
No. of balls made in the game - This is the number of balls made in the game by each player, excluding any balls made on the break. So, if you added the balls on the break and the no. of balls in the game, that should give you total balls made by a player.
No. of makeable missed shots - This was a stat that is open to interpretation. I put this in there, but I was curious how many shots a pro player would miss that they were expected to make. So, that is all this stat was. I made a descision based upon the player, on what shot's he truely missed that he should have made. For example, I hit Scott up with a miss on a cross corner bank that is a typical onepocket shot that comes up all day. He got dinged for that because I figure he makes about 90% or better of those. This stat really didn't prove to be the most telling of missed shots. The missed safety's were much more of a factor. Shane was missing alot of safetys. So this stat, is all about missed shots that a pro should have made. Not missed safetys, missed kicks or anything like that.
Break and Run - The shooter had to be the one breaking, he had to make a ball and he had to get a win, without the opponent coming to the table. Not the other guy breaking dry and the other one comes to the table and runs 9 and out. Doesn't count. Shooter has to break and get the win, all in the same inning. There was a high run of 6 by Shane. He came up dry on the break on No. 7.
Who won - Pretty self explanatory there.. I put a 1 in who won, so the spreadsheet adds it all up in the end. Should be the score total.
So there is a explaination on how I arrived at my figures.
Some other stats that play a big part in a match, that would be interesting to know are these.....
1. how many safetys were played, how many were executed to their fullest and how many were not executed well at all
2. how many "rolls" a person got... that's a pretty subjective stat. I don't know how a person could determine this. I guess it really should be left up to "it all evens out in the end"
3. how many successful kicks a person makes. Even if they don't kick and make the ball or kick and still leave the person a shot. A successful kick should be if they make the ball of course, but also, if they hit it on the correct side they want to and they send the object ball in the direction they want the cueball in the direction they want.
Anyways, hope you enjoy the stats, they are certainly a labor to do and I have to psyche myself up to do it for 2 more days.
I will get the spreadsheets ready for day 2 and put the Totals in the Totals tab. Look at the bottom left of the web page and you should see Day 1, Day 2 and Day 3 and a Totals tab. You can click on each of those to view that page.
