This board has gotten really boring man. Where are the players talking pool. This board is all cue makers, cue sellers, cue repair men, table repair cue sellers. No players man. All these guys are doing is talking about making or repair cues or fighting with FL over Ivory ferrules. Who let these guys take over. They have made this board, a waste land of nothing going on but what interests them.

Hey man, i could care less about how to make some cue, I buy cues. Teach me how to run out. How about some of these people go work on cues and let players talk about pool man. Why dont all these boring people leave and start their own board and call it cue sellers and repair pool board, then they can have their world and we can begin to talk about pool and how to play it once more.

well cues are part of pool isn't it?

What good is a cue, if nobody tells you how to use it or how to run the table with it.

Always use the same cue.

Make sure your tip is slightly rounded on top and its shoulder is at least the thickness of a nickel.

Chalk up before every shot.

Use a loose grip.

Keep your head down and follow through.

Play three balls ahead minimum. Shoot the first ball so that the cue ball will get shape on the good side of the second ball that lets you get shape on the good side of the third ball.

Practice, practice, practice.

what else? anybody?

Then go to another board man , don't let the door hit you on the way out!!!!!!! Better yet maybe you should be on the table and not on your butt in front of the computer. Isn't it amazing how some peoples names really fit them? Quick somebody call the waaaaaaaahhhhhhhMBULANCE!!!!!! lol.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink!

You can read all about "how to run out" you want, but that's not going to make you run out. If you want to run out, get your butt of this board and get on a table and practice, you just might have to take a lesson or 6 to do what you want.

The first thing to know when playing pool is to have good equiptment. This would include a level table and a good cue. The rest is up to you...

Hi Zim,

We had a saying in my old line of work that "You can lead a horse to water, and sometimes it drowns". Some people get too caught up in learning one discipline or another to understand why they need to learn others. Other players spend most of their time trying to learn the physics of the game. One of our local players spends his practice time trying to learn how to cut a ball. He told me I was a lousy player because I could not tell him how I aim. I tried to explain what I see. Not according to his Robert Byrne book. Some are equipment hounds (good for you and other retailers). They constantly buy more "stuff" trying to find the magic bullet!

Regarding the thread, I understand what "poco" sees on this board. My question is, who is this board for? My view is, exactly the people he complains about. Some of the posts do belong in the buy/sell area but, having people like Blud, Mr Reyes, Ted Harris, Mike Webb, Classiccues and others gives us (the players and railbirds) a new and different perspective on the game. Too bad "poco" doesn't or wont understand.

Larry/Poco, do you have any of those imported cues left? LOL
Larry was peddling them here a few hundred posts back.
Talk about a pot calling a kettle black in this site.

Talk about a pot calling a kettle black in this site.

Also, it seems Larry/Poco thinks it's ok for Larry to constantly peddle his not-yet-for-sale DVD, but not for people to discuss cues. Hypocrisy and stupidity go hand in hand.
