Depends on your expectations. If you establish the rules as you see them with your opponent prior to the match starting and both parties agree, then fair play. If you expect your opponent to abide by your rules without laying out said rules, you are bad action. When I play for money, my opponent has to play by my rules. I try to eliminate as much 'luck / slop' as I can, and so the ball and pocket must be called. A 9 ball or an 8 ball on the break doesn't win the game and is spotted. If a player misses a called shot during a game and another ball inadvertently goes in, he loses his turn and the ball remains pocketed. Just wondering what the consensus is among you all.
cause thems sissy rulesWhy not just play with already established rules, BCA rules? No need to reinvent the wheel.

You may have trouble getting a game if you feel like you always have to play by your specified rules. It sounds like you want to play 9 ball using what you describe as call shot 8 ball rules. If you run in to opponents that want to play by their specified rules or by house or tournament rules, good luck getting a game. When I play for money, my opponent has to play by my rules. look at his avatarSorry for my bluntness, but you come across here as someone who is used to getting your way?
You forgot the shrugyou can do whatever you and your gambling partner agree to
You nailed it!And if you get a game by your rules, there’s a good chance your opponent feels they can beat you regardless of your rules, which sounds like it might not be a good game for you.

I assume you’ll also only take a $ game if you can get or give up the spot that you want? Sorry for my bluntness, but you come across here as someone who is used to getting your way.
I'm only asking if you agree or disagree with call pocket. There's really no argument here. I play by my rules. If you like a different set of rules, play someone that likes your rules. Just between you and me, there are very few amateur players who'll play call pocket because they rely on the 'luck' factor to have any chance at winning against a better player. Sorry for my bluntness, but you sound like one of them.
Why in the world would anyone play pool for money without knowing the rules ahead of time? Would you?Depends on your expectations. Just looking for clarification. You sound like a real joy to be around. Why in the world would anyone play pool for money without knowing the rules ahead of time? Would you?
The rules in a money game are set by the players of said money game. There are no 'recognized & well established rules'. It's fascinating that there are those here that don't know that.Play the game as it was meant to be played……by the sanctioned rules. If you wanna change it, why? How come?
14.1, 8 ball, 9 ball, 10 ball, 1 pocket, bank pool…..just pick a game and play by recognized & well established rules.
The rules are set before you play. There are no arguuments. How many arguments ensue during your match ups?
