Camcorder wall mount suggestions?

I bought myself a Sony CX210 video camcorder for Christmas. It's amazing. Crystal clear.

I need some suggestions for a way to construct a wall mount to attach or hold my camcorder. I haven't seen a true aftermarket or purpose-built mount for this, but I might be looking in the wrong place.

Has anyone constructed or bought something similar for their home poolroom? I really want to film my practice time and "friendly games" from a 45*ish overhead type view. Much like you see on a BigTruck stream or most online streaming, for that matter. I'm going to buy tripod for stroke evaluation.

Pics or diagrams would be greatly appreciated.

I was going to ask the same question. I got a new cannon camcorder
And I was going to make something but not sure what to make yet.

Find a bolt with the same thread specifications as the tripod mount on the bottom of your camcorder. Get some flat washers and an angle bracket like they use for shelving...

I found one on line by just googling "camcorder wall mounts" or something like that. It cost about $10.00 and fits both my cameras, a Sony and a Cannon.

Can I suggest a tripod and triggering with a remote control. This way you can film at various angles.

I use a tripod for most of my filming but the wall mount comes in handy at times and clears your floor space.

As usual, this forum is THE best for all things pool related. I definitely like a couple of the linked mounts on here.

With that said, I'd still like to see what you came up with "iusedtoberich". I hope to get something set up soon.

I haven't been able to find a remote specifically for this camera. I'd really like to have one.

I'm still amazed at how clear this camcorder is. The mic on it fairly well sux, but I knew that one going in based on the reviews. You can hear stuff, just not that well. What's weird is.......if I plug the camcorder into my downstairs TV and just set it on top of the DVD player, so that it's "streaming live"......the mic seems to pick up voices/sounds way better than if I actually hold it close to the table with it not plugged into anything. I don't see how the TV could amplify the mic, but then again, I'm no electronics guru.

I have to run, but here are a few pics in the meantime. I record directly to my laptop (that has a broken internal screen, hence the screen. I use a firewire cable and Quicktime. (I'm a Mac nut). I have a cable cover over the wires for a neat appearance. I'll discuss what issues I had later...

Edit: I added info under the pics...

Installed dedicated shelves for laptop, power strip, monitor, etc.

I had to put the camcorder all the way against the corner of the ceiling/wall in order to get the whole table in view. Its a pain to adjust the camcorder, because I can't reach its controls well (they are against the wall). But I set it up, and now just control the camcorder from the computer. I don't know if this is possible with non-Fireweire camcorders.

Camcorder mount is shelf bracket plus top of $2 mini-tripod I had lying around. The swivel mechanism is not sturdy enough to support the camcorder well. It works, but is not ideal. The ones posted by Bigtruck look like they would work way better.

I also mounted my iPhone 4S with a windshield mount I found on eBay for about $5. I modified it to mount to the wall. It takes decent video, but getting them off the iPhone is a pain, and the focus can't be locked like it can on the camcorder.

I use Quicktime to record from the camcorder. (There is no tape in the camcorder). It records directly to my laptop's hard drive via Firewire cable. The camcorder and laptop are from 2006 or so. I don't think the modern camcorders use Firewire, I don't know how they work now.... but I had these lying around, so decided to use them instead of buying new.

I can record in DV format, which is freaking HUGE uncompressed video files. I instead set Quicktime to "High" setting, which seems to compress the video on the fly. I notice no difference in quality between the two on playback.

The iPhone 4S records in 1080 Hi-Def, and I don't think the picture is any better than the Mini DV camcorder, yet the file size is WAY bigger.

Check the manual to see if there a setting for automatic gain on the mic? Auto gain will try to boost the mic's sensitivity if the room is quiet so it can pick up sound, lower it if the room noisy.

Good luck with your setup, and pleas post pictures.

Did you check the box real closely? Almost all cameras come with a remote.

Yes. I bought it on eBay, as a display model from a licensed distributor. There was no mention of a remote on any official components list. I investigated several various sources before pulling the trigger on this.

It does have a touchscreen like the iPhone, which is nifty and very intuitive.

Has anyone found a camera mount that has a remote control?

I'd love to be able to swivel the camera from across the room.
