camera recommendations?

not very expensive for the quality return it gives.

I have one of those (well, technically 4 of them :) ) and am planning on just dangling one over the table with a USB extention to a laptop soon as I stop being lazy about actually starting to work on it.

I've used these to stream also and it does a good job for that also. Next to a higher end video camera the top HD webcams do a great job.

personally i feel that you're off to a bad start if you are worried about what others think while you're trying to make some progress. I started with an iPhone and tripod setup before i got the camcorder, even used it to recorded my daughter belt test is self defense. I don't know if you've ever recorded yourself or seen you play or making set shots but let me tell you, there is no substitute for video of you practicing or playing.

before the camera and even now (with the iPhone i used it to stream to Ustream and then watched it there so no space is used on the device) I have friends who ask me to record their practice or match. That came about because i recorded a few matches and put on dvd and gave to the people that i played (this was 14.1 btw).

The iPhone is a great way to start/started kit IMO.

For me it's not really about the occasional odd looks, it has more to do with the random guy that has been drinking and some people I know that would not be happy to be in any video at all even if it's just walking by the screen.

sorry if this been discussed

would like to start recording myself aerial view for learning purposes. what's out there compact and easily mounted?

If you just want to record youself then use your phone - this is the cheapest solution.

I recommend Coach's Eye app because it's got slow motion capabilities. I think having the ability to slow down the footage really allows you to see mistakes, movement, etc.

It's available for both iphones and android. There's ads and other annoying things about it but if you're only going to use it once in a while, it's great.
