A few months ago I bought a used cue on ebay and although it was supposed to be straight I noticed right away that it had a slight wobble when it was together. I felt it while I was playing and also when I rolled it on the table but I was so taken by the cue and the wobble was so slight that I mentioned it to the seller but decided to keep it.
Of course the wobble began to bother me and I started reading all of the threads about taper roll and warping and so on. This past weekend I rolled the cue with each shaft both on the table and with the butt on the rail and marked the high point of the wobble with a small chalk mark.
Finally at home in some good light I saw the high point was the same with both shafts and as I was wiping off the chalk mark I felt that the joint was not flush at the spot I marked the joint. It appears the joint is flush with the butt around the majority of the circumference but just off flush at this point.
So my question...can a stainless steel joint be replaced or is it so attached to the butt that I would lose a section of the forearm when it's removed and then due to the taper of the cue not be flush with the shafts when the new joint is installed?
