can AI play pool?

I keep hearing how Ai will replace a lot of things. Then I imagine if a CNC robot could play pool.

imagine two robots, both playing pool against each other and controlled remotely? or a peal person playing against them.

people could pay to play and control them remotely, or a robot might be able to do the lineup quite well, maybe with AI It could map out sequences and evaluate possibilities of outcome, calculate decisions, perhaps better than a human can.

I can understand how such technology could work, and find the concept a bit amusing. I bet a robot could be "trained" to play pool quite well. , in a physical way, not just a screen animation of pool, but on a real table.

what if you could have a computerized robot to challenge yourself ?

fun to think about, I think we are safe for now ;-)
 
It's a bit silly to automate recreation to have robots have fun for us. Although some products do exist for the ladies to use I think...
 
I can see how a person who has money but lives in some crowded and expensive city might pay to play on a real table with real balls by remote. He'd see the actual table, which could be located anywhere and likely not is a high rent district. maybe gamble against his friends..

sure the same could happen with a video game, a pool simulator, but that would be a lot more boring than a real table , to me anyway.
 
In a pool simulation the pool table could have variable properties.

Most of the Earth based physics in pool has been solved.

In the pool simulation it could be completely strategy based. Play nearest ball VS play 1 rail position shots, similar to poker games. Each player would have to customize their own preference for each play strategy.
 
I think some would be drawn into a simulator and enjoy it , much like any other video game. personally I would be bored with it fast..
A robot playing physically , on a real table against me with a cue in hand,, That would be a different , to me..

we sometimes go to an out of town diner, they have an automated server, They still come to the table and take the order, the server brings the stuff and comes to retrieve the plates.. People like "her" . she find the tables ok gets things back , takes a bit of load off the actual server..

I don't mind that, but a Bösendorfer with an auto player machine makes me want to end society.
