Can anyone verify if this is a Adam Rambow R/A-7B?

Hello and thanks for accepting me to the forum.
I recently acquired this cue and from the research I've done it appears to be a 1970 Adam Rambow R/A-7B. Would like some help verifying whether it is or just a knock off so I know how to put a value on it. It came from my mother's estate. She owned a bar in Memphis in the '80s and I feel pretty confident that is where it originated from.
Thanks

Yes, it is.

Are you the Ebay seller?

The cue is in shabby shape. Needs a lot of work. Not cheap work.

I have the same cue with two original shafts in nice condition and wouldn't seek the $1,000 I saw that listed for. I then got an offer of $600 because I was watching it. Still too high.

By the way, the cue is itself is a "cheap knock off" of Rambow's work. But it is collectable. It's a first run cue, one of the first Adam cues, made in Japan.

I just checked, I got mine in 2019 in nice shape (not perfect but much better than yours) for $275. And that was with 2 original shafts with the aluminum inserts.

I am guessing you are getting offers in the 200 to 250 range, and maybe crackpots saying it's a fake.

If you look up prices for s new butt cap, wrap, and refinish at Proficient Billiards you can get an idea why the condition matters so much.

A refinish with leather wrap is $325. Plus whatever the butt cap replacement costs and whatever else they run into. Is the shaft straight?

I would guestimate another $100. Then there is shipping both ways. That eats up the value of the cue pretty fast.

Frankly, it's worth whatever someone will pay. I would throw a starting price of a couple hundred on it and let an auction run to completion.

But be prepared for problems, like buyers wanting money back due to the condition, even though it is clear in the pictures.

I am that seller. Was waiting on some type of confirmation so priced it high so I didn't mess myself up. Can always go down but can't go up.
If you're interested go in and make an offer based on what you've seen.
I've had cues redone but it was many years ago so I'm sure the price has gone up substantially especially to trust someone with a stick that appears to be fairly rare.
Thanks again for the confirmation of what it is. If you'd like to do something outside of EBay it would save me the fees which in turn would bring the money down 👍🏼

Thanks for your honesty. It really helps. Probably just going to pull it down for now. Don't want any jacked up sales messing up my 100 on eBay. 🤣
And yes the shaft has a slight bow. That's why I said it would need restoration but I agree. It could be an eBay nightmare for sure 👍🏼

Thanks. I wouldn't likely be a buyer as I wouldn't be willing to pay much. On top of that I have one with two shafts that does not need work.

I've pulled it off of EBay. Not sure if you can email me from the forum or if I'm allowed to post my email here.
Let me know how you would like to proceed. I can relist it if need be. Keep in mind eBay takes 14% of my sale price. Thanks again 👍🏼

for someone with a shaft that fits, and just glues that leather back he can have a good playing stick for little money.
not for someone that values looks.
you are really just buying a damaged butt. a bowed shaft is worthless. except some can get straight with a lot of work and luck.

I will send you a private message here.
Don't post your contact info in the open forum. That's really not safe.

danny, you seem like a good guy stick around and be part of the forums. if around awhile you get known and can sell stuff here. no charge.

you might do even better as pool players here have options with fixing sticks up. and many like the older cues. like i do.
you do lose the chance of finding someone who will way overpay like on ebay.

Thanks. I try to be honest and transparent as possible. I shot league pool when my mom had her bar in the '80s but after it closed I dropped off. Still love the game and play anytime I run across a table but not the shooter I once was. I really appreciate all of the feedback on my post. Now I'm looking at marketplace for a table🤦🏼‍♂️.

Definitely hang around here if you are looking to get a table and get back into it. This is a great community.

I sent you a direct message.
