I'm looking for a 3/8-8 tap, not a 3/8-7.5 radial, I have 4 of those. I have 30 or so pins around with this odd 3/8-8 configuration. I've looked at Atlas, Prather's, and Hightower's with no luck. I don't want to break the bank either. Any help would be much appreciated.

Spokane should have some good tool & die makers. Sometimes its not only the best way but the only way. Sorry I haven't found anyone in the nw that I could hook you up with, still send my stuff to Phoenix since I am happy with the guys there.

Could this be the Schmelke ball screw pins? If so they are the ones for the tap.

Chris,

They are the Schmelke pins, but Schmelke only sells a type of press tap that press fits, and it doesn't cut like a tap does. They say you can't use a 5/16 drill and tap it from there, you must bore it larger, then press fit the 3/8-8 hole. I'd rather spend the money and get a real tap, especially if I need it down the road.

Jack,
Thanks for the ideas. I'll check around town and get prices here in Spokane to have a custom built tap. I was hoping someone had an extra one to sell.

I've thought of using their pin, if it helps cost wise, maybe we could get 2 made? Pm me and we'll talk about it. I like the 3/8-10, but a few less turns could be worth it
