I know that Lil Jon beat Tony out of about 10,000 the last time he was in town (with the 6 & last 3 I believe).

Is it just me or is that a TON of weight in 9 ball? What size tables they playing on? Where were they playing? I am just curious here...I don't know...just sounds like a big spot for Tony to give up to ANYBODY...much less LJ. But hey, I am a one pocket attempter/player.

Lil Jon is in St. Louis

Mike - You said - SC/NC are decent places for action, although Lil Jon (he was in town) begged to differ.

Lil Jon has been here for 2 or 3 days now. Been playing $20K & $30k sets. Also rail betting on some great sets. I thing he's doing pretty good but things change around here day to day.

If Jerry ever gets to St. Louis, we could play again. But if coming to St. Louis right now, $1K sets aren't going to attract very much attention. Lately, most sets are from $10K - $30K. I very much enjoyed our match in southern ILL many years ago. To the tune of $1,500 or so. Jerry is a great player and a gentleman and beat some good players. He also played Louie some great matches down south.

Like I said before Jerry is not trying to conquer the pool world he just wants to be able to play some reasonably cheap. He is going to be stationed here in SC for a while, he will not be able to travel for at least 1 more year.I will be sure to let him know you asked about him Tom.

This spot was mentioned in the DCC threads when Marcus Chamat gave Lil Jon that same spot for $10,000 plus a bunch of side action. I thought it was too big to overcome also but after all night and Lil Jon being up 7-8 games on the 10 ahead set several times finally bowed to the hours of playing and lost about 8 in a row in 45 minutes to lose. A hell of a match though.

Those Champions can give up a ton of weight when playing winner breaks, Those champions will put a 6 pack on you in a blink of an eye....doesn't really mattter what the spot is if you don't get to shoot.

As far as action for Jerry goes, You might want to head to Atanta this weekend for the 10,000 added tourny. There will be all kinds of action for a player of any speed. I'll be there and I'll buy the first round of drinks.

OHB,

You are right. That's quite a bit of difference. I'm gonna have to get up to St. Louis soon and sweat some of that action.

It was like that around Greenville around 10 years ago. Several big drug dealers and bookies were into pool at the time, and the money was flowing pretty loosely. There were many occasions where 100,000-200,000 was lost. I saw one of the dealers lose 13 straight sets at 5k per set once and pay the 65 grand out of his front pocket. There was a big drug bust (called operation cue ball) soon after that and 44 people were busted. All but about 3 spent time in prison. That deflated the action here. It has gotten a little better over time, but not close to what it once was.

It would be great to sweat (and maybe participate in) that type of action again.
