Can I tip make that much of a difference?

I am in a really crap hole of a slump right now. I know it is because I have too much going on outside of pool that has my mind all tied up in knots, but being the competitor that I am I am trying to play through it. I had two new tips put on my shafts last weekend; one was a talisman medium and the other a talisman hard. I like the hard better, but I still was suffering. I then had a leather impregnated phenolic tip put on my jump break cue that sounds like an ASS of a miscue on every shot. I did win a game and forgot to switch back to the other playing cue, I knew after the first shot that had the wrong one, but the ball dropped and pulled up perfect shape. So I figured what the hell; keep it for now. After I got back to even, we quit. I am thinking about putting this thing on my playing cue.
Question,
Can I tip make that much of a difference, or is it me? All the balls I was shooting that rattled in the hole are now dropping.

Obviously it's the tip OR the shirt you were wearing. I think both have as much influence.

I think the better the player that you are the more difference you'll notice from tip to tip. I notice some differences but I don't feel its significant enough to improve my skill level vs just being more comfortable.

The tip is the most important thing on your cue. It is the only thing that will ever touch a cue ball. I have recently switched to Sniper tips. I will not play with anything else now. They hold shape, hold chalk, don't 'shroom, play like a soft tip, and hold up like a hard tip.

Maybe you're hitting with less english, or have a more pure hit with the new tip. You may be able to cover slight flaws in your stroke that's causing rattling balls in pockets by using less inadvertent english. Just a thought.

It is definitely covering up a major flaw that shows up when I am tired, or drunk, or in a slump, or all of the above (of course when that happens; I usually end up needing another cue). I start steering just a bit with my stroke and I can’t stop, long straight shots become impossible as do cut shots. I can see the english go on the cue ball and all I can think is shit! I was trying for a little stun shot or just a stop shot.

PROG8R, I don't think I would be changing my equipment at all if my mental game was out of whack like you describe. Even when I'm shooting well a tip change, or cue change has a mental effect on my game. Seems to me the less change the better until you play through your slump.

I hope you get your game back soon, I know when mine goes downhill I get very grumpy in other aspects of my life.
