I am trying to decide upon what 2 x 4 cue case I want to order. Murnak Vintage, or Justis Pro Lite?

If any of you have recently ordered from either case maker what is the time frame I can expect to get delivery in?

What are you personal likes and dislikes about you Murnak Vintage, or Justis Pro Lite?

Yes I know the Murnak has tubes for protection, and the Justis does not.

Also anyone have weight on either case empty?

well, i cannot tell you anything about the murnak, but i have had 4 justis cases, tubed and prolite. i also have other tube cases as well as "fellini style" cases and have come to the conclusion that i like the prolite storage system and will never go back to a "tube" style case. it was about a 1 month wait for my last custom justis, not bad at all considering how much tooling was on that case. i would recommend justis. hope this helps.

I own a Vintage 3x6 and love it. It's easy to get stuff in and out of the pockets. The Vintage design is very different than the normal case that's why I like mine. I can't say anything about A J.J. case, but from what I see here he makes a nice case also, but I like my Murnak!!

Murnak...makes awesome gun holsters and nice cases.
Justis...Cream of the crop...everything else is settling.

IMO,

I just received my Justis pro-lite, 3X6...my first leather case. I love it, though things can be difficult to retreive from the pockets. (I have 16" and 8") I blame that on my big hands. The workmanship cannot be faulted, it's just plain gorgeous. Oh, to pad things a bit, I place a rolled up car shop rag atop the butts and shafts (all with joint protectors) before closing the lid.

I lucked out on the waiting time because Jack had decided to finish up domestic shipping production before beginning his overseas orders. So, only a few weeks...

I figure this will be the last case I buy. Warning: When you take bathroom breaks, be sure a friend is watching your case. That, or take it to the john with you. Of course, your case doesn't have to be a Justis...good advice in any case! (Sorry, couldn't resist the pun :p )

I've a Murnak and it is a good case, if you do any carrying around of the case I'd go with the Justis just for the lightness.

I can't tell you the weight of either, but a friends Justis with cues in it was lighter than my Murnak without cues.

You may wanna check out JOHN BARTON's custom cases. As the original maker of Instroke, I'm sure he'll give you the best protective case for your cues with your very own design or style for the same price of a Murnak or a Justis. Check out his latest work here http://www.jbcases.com/gallery.html :)

i think his cases, as Jack's also, are both great. :)

Cue Case

I have a Murnak 4x8.
I like the attention when someone wants me to show them my case or someone who has seen it wants me to show it to someone else.

Only downside are:

1) I wanted to be the first one on earth to own more than one Murnak. Somebody beat me to it.

2) I got some long pockets on both sides. One holds a cue extension and the other holds a jump cue but. Plenty of room for each. Downside is this limits the leather canvas above the pockets for Jim to do some carvings or colorized drawings.

3) It is difficult to determine all the options Jim offers. Carvings, shading, hardware, etc. As time goes on, there are more examples to look at and ponder the endless options. Same problem with Jack Justiss. Both are true artist who can produce a one-of-a kind case.

4) I have two (2) cues with 4 shafts each. Two (2) original shafts and two (2) lower deflection shaft (per cue). At this rate, you can fill up an 18-wheeler pretty quickly.

Big decision. Wish I was in your shoes. Good luck.:D

Side note: I do not understand the whole "case must be feather light" concern. Built it out of composites, fill it with helium, add a wheel, carry your cue in a trash bag or use carbon fibers.

So what if the wait is long. How long have you been living and how many cases do you plan to buy?

I love my Murnak. So much so, that I've ordered another. Problem I'm having now though is that I was quoted 6 to 7 weeks for the new one to be made and it's now week 9. I have sent numerous emails to Jim asking for a status which didn't get any response and then yesterday he contacted me and said that he'll get to starting the build in "the next few weeks".

He must be busy with a large order because his delivery sucks right now.

I wouldn't mind so much if he communicated with me a little more and maybe he would get a bit more understanding but right now....
I'm a little P1553d!

I imagine he be even further behind if he spent enough time on the puter to have a good communication rating. I'll bet he doesn't have a secretary to do that stuff.

Didn't he only really start making them 1-2 years ago, I remember him telling me when he decided to make a run of it. He went in on a big materials order and was hoping it would pan out. By the interest I'm guessing it did. By the wait time I'm guessing it did big time. Small business owners always have trouble ramping up production - but if you like the cases...it's worth the wait right?
