I've got an old unknown sneakey peat that I loved the hit , but the shaft cracked so I had a local cue maker make me a new cue but its heavier. I never liked the action of the cue but I was told the playability was in the old cue shaft and that's that. But tonight I pulled the old cue out and put the new shaft on the old lighter butt and like magic the new stiff shaft felt like old times with action like the old combination. Do I need to lighten the new cue or turn it down to same thickness ( the new cue is fatter all the way) or is it something else?

Get a measurement of the diameter of your old butt and have it sanded down to the diameter of your old one. Even 10/1000 will give you a very different feel and you may simply like a thinner feel on the butt.Weight , of course, will effect the feel of the cue. Balance is a more complex problem but start with above and see how you make out
