I've looked around and couldnt find much information.

How many matches are played and what type of format is it?

Who do you expect to win?

doesn't matter. get your ass to Vegas - you won't regret it.

PL <---- EUUUUUUR-UPPPPP

From what I have read Europe is the favorite. I have not seen how many matches at this point but it is going to be covered live on ESPN3 starting at 2 PM Dec 7th then consecutive days at the same time through the 10th. If you cant get to see it in person you can probably get some of it on the web or through your cable provider.

The event is 9-Ball racing to 11 matches, with each match being a race to 6 games. There is one team match (everyone plays one game), 7 doubles matches, and up to 13 singles matches. Each team has 5 players and a non-playing captain.

For the last two years, each member of the winning team received $20,000 and each member of the losing team received $10,000.

It starts 36 hours from now!

[This assumes the format will be the same as for the 2013 Mosconi Cup in Las Vegas.]

It starts 11:00 am each day local time. Anybody know how long the event is each day. Estimated end time?

I've been wondering the same thing. It has to be five matches per day because they play to 11 points, which could mean 11-10 for 21 total matches over 4 days. At an hour or so per match, that's 11:00 AM until about 4:00 PM.

Here's how it went for the last two years, from the lag for the first match each day to the final ball of the last match each day (all times are EST by my computer clock):

2014 (Races to 5)
Day 1 -- 2:14 - 6:11 (5 matches)
Day 2 -- 2:14 - 6:31 (5 matches)
Day 3 -- 2:12 - 5:45 (4 matches)
Day 4 -- 2:11 - 3:38 (2 matches)

2013 (Races to 6)
Day 1 -- 2:18 - 7:18 (5 matches)
Day 2 -- 2:09 - 7:41 (5 matches)
Day 3 -- 2:10 - 5:17 (3 matches)

And maybe this will help you understand where all the USA fuss is coming from and/or the lack of faith

This year I'd say the odds are about even. The first few matches indicate how it's going to be, the MC is pretty tough to win from behind.

This year they tweak it a bit, Atlarge
They increase doubles to 8 matches from 7 matches last year and singles matches will be 12 matches from 13 matches previously. Considering that USA did better in doubles than singles ( 3 wins out of 7 doubles and 2 wins out of 8 singles) , this may be slightly tiny little advantage to USA:grin-square:
