Can the typical cue maker work with Paulownia or Balsa?

light butt

I am currently building a light weight butt from a Carbon Fiber tube. Joint is about
.850 and butt is about 1.250. 30" long, 3/8-10 steel pin, no butt cap yet. Weighs in the neighborhood of 6 oz. No filling, would take plenty of abuse. Not much fun breaking with 10 ounce break cue.
Update: Butt weighs 6.0 oz, shaft is 3.5 oz

There isn't a desired feel at all. The G10 pin is probably a must, I have a cue with a radial G10 already, but does a G10 only come in radial and is radial the lightest choice?

As far as construction and finishing I'm open to anything honestly (although I'd prefer to have a weight bolt chamber if possible). I understand that a deformation and/or breaking factor comes into play, so if it breaks I'd write it off as beta 1 and try again with the makers suggestions. Your suggestion of a collar seems like a must as well, so thank you for that.

There is no lighter pin than G10. You can also get a 3/8-10. Weight difference is negligible even at the low weight you're looking at.

Can you post a pic taken down the center? Is it adhering inside? Did any unexpected tools enter the fabrication process?

I designed a weight bolt chamber for a 3D printed butt that can slide down into what I think you're describing. I can't get a hold of any local maker, yet so I was thinking about doing what you've apparently done.

Regardless of using PLA or CF, I'm trying to figure out a good way of adding a bolt chamber AND have threading for extensions, but I've never rolled CF so I have no idea on its adhesion.

3D printed materials work great, but I really don't want a 3D printed butt as I'd rather it to be smooth, so I was looking at CF.
