Can you fix Cue Handle Wobble?

I am looking at a cue that I am told has slight wobble in the handle. It is a Meucci original cue.
I never have bought a cue that was not straight. I know the shat can be fixed. What about a Older Meucci original? Is it fairly reasonable to fix?

Thank you for any and all information...

Since you are in Nashville run it by and let Alex Brick look at it and he should be able to let you know what it will take to fix it.

Most likely yes, but the cost to pay a qualified cuesmith to replace the handle and refinish it might exceed the value of the cue if it's a lower end production cue. Good idea to take it by Alex at JOB and see what he thinks.

More cue info

The cue is a David Howard giant slayer. Replace the handle.? Wouldn't that kill the value on this cue?
I don't Owen the cue yet. I was looking at buying it.

Thanks again

It is a toss up on value. All orginal with handle wobble or rewrap with new handle. If you are going to play with it with the value being a toss up you might want to fix it.

Depends on what is wrong, might be able to splice another piece into the handle and then recut wrap groove to fix the problem. Might not need a refinish. Should not hurt the value of the cue at all. There are a few of the top cue makers that used spliced handles especially if they are maple. This is to ensure they stay straight.

Bring by JOB Billiards in Madison and let me look at it. I think I saw the cue the other night but did not roll on a table. It has a non coated Irish linen wrap on it already but it does need a refinish as the finish is worn off.

I wouldn't worry about a "slight" wobble. Put the cue together and roll it. See how it affects the shaft. If the tip does not come off the table, I wouldn't mess with it.

Replacing the handle is not easy or cheap or even a guarantee that it will roll any straighter. There are several factors that go into making a cue roll straight...
