Can you jump with a regularPoison cue?

Regular meaning not a jump cue. I usually shoot with a 314-2 shaft and have a separate jump cue but recently joined a league that doesn't allow jump cues. The 314 doesn't jump or masse very well if at all due to how its constructed. Was looking to pick up a Poison but wanted to know if their dual density shaft has any adverse effect on jumping. Feedback from anyone that has shot with a poison would be helpful.

Missed the space in the thread title. Anyone can tell me how to edit the title?

It has more to do with your stroke and ability (and practice jumping with a full length cue) than it does the manufacturer, at least in my experience. I actually like jumping with a bar cue if i can find one, the nastier, harder tipped (and shorter) the better. But that's just me. Although cues that have been turned down lower than 11.5, or sticks with lots of flex (like the meucci SP i used to play with) aren't quite as consistent in their jumping, hence the bar cue experiment.

Well, I jump fine with a house cue and can jump with other full cues also, albeit not as close or high as a jump cue. When I tried with my predator it was just harder to get the ball airborne. Others told me low deflection cues have give near thr front of the shaft so they don't jump very well. Made sense to me. Didn't matter cause I also had a jump cue. Since I can't use a jump cur in leagues and they won't let me switch to a house cue to jump, I just thought id pick up a non -ld cue to play leagues with.

Depending on what your thread type is, you might be able to just pick up a solid maple shaft for your stick for really cheap and use it on your playing cue for just that league. Just a suggestion.

Full cue

If you are using a predator I am going to assume is a uni lock joint. just find yourself a full 13mm lucasi shaft and throw a good hard leather tip on it. My old one jumped damned good.

Yeah, it's a uni-loc joint. I guess I could just get a lucasi shaft. I was also looking for an excuse to buy another cue and liked the octagonal shape of the Poison Nitros. A new N1 is only about $200 and a new lucasi shaft is around $110. Thinking about it. In the mean time, any feedback on Poison cues would be helpful.

In my experience, the tip makes more difference than the cue. You can put a white diamond or a phenolic on anything and jump with it. Conversely, you can put an Elkmaster a jump cue and make it pretty much worthless.
