I just checked my tv guide for tomorrow, and the King of the Hill is not available up here.

So Europe gets live coverage of events, Asia gets live coverage as well next season and the US gets the King of the Hill and possibly other events later in the year and we get to read about it.

Humph :(.

Could it be that the Canadians are shunning the US?

Maybe the other way around.

It does bother me a little bit though that, there is obviously enough of an audience watching pool in Canada that Sportsnet carries the US Open, World Pool Masters and the World Championships on tv every year and up until recently it was replayed over and over up until the new event is shown. So why isn't there an attempt to air the show in Canada as well? Or is it that no channel north of the border would carry it?

I am very interested in finding out.

That might be a question better asked of your TV stations since I am sure it is completely their choice. Toronto did hold a qualifier. And of course the networks are a for profit organization, even in Canada, I presume, so maybe they just thought it was not worth it. And of course if they don't get any complaints for not running it then they did the right thing.

I'm agree with you Cameron, there's no reason why we don't get the same here in Canada. Billiard is growing in Canada and we do need to see those events on TV like everybody else does.

Could be that they're still shopping the show to Canadian networks and haven't found any that'll bite yet.

This is probably untrue, sportsnet whom Cameron referred to is one of the top sports channels here in Canada and has broadcast a pretty extensive package of pool and billiards in it's broadcast schedule. They would probably be interested in the possibility of broadcasting IPT events, I think I might drop them an e-mail to find out if the IPT people have contacted them in any way, shape, or form.

My guess is that KT and the IPT have probably made no attempt whatsoever to get their events broadcast here in Canada, the reason being that were such a small market, it only makes sense that they focused on larger markets such as Europe and Asia first.

I think if it gets picked up in Canada it would have to be through TSN as they seem to have some kind of deal with OLN, since the Canadian version is under their blanket. It's kind of like ESPN Classic which is affliated with TSN. But I'm not holding my breath for TSN to pick up any more pool as they treat as more of filler a than ESPN does.

I remember the most frusterating thing that ever happened with TSN was they scheduled the Mosconi Cup starting at 7:00 pm till 11:00 pm. I had bought some good beer, munchies and set up a tape just in case someone called me. Then 7:00 pm come along, I turn on the tv and it is NASCAR instead. I was so frusterated. I wrote them a letter to complain and they after a couple weeks responded. They said "We appreciate your interest our channel and we hope that you continue to enjoy our broadcasting."

*sigh*

If TSN is our only hope of getting to see IPT tournaments were in REAL bad shape. I would rather see sportsnet pick it up, atleast they would use it as more than just a filler, as in possibly showing it during primetime hours like they do the WPC.

That's what I love about sportsnet. Its great that I can watch the WPC at 8:00 PM with a beer and some chips.

TSN on the other hand puts more priority on Darts.
