Canadian Championships 2012

i agree with you Scott.i think i rather play in 404 event where i can play in a cheaper entry and have chance to win the same amount of money as they have in Canadians.I think one of the issue right now is the economic crisis.i would say 90% of the participants here are employed and this is the main reason why number of participants is declining.

You can play all the 404s you like but you'll never have a chance to be a Canadian champion unless you play in the Canadians.

We were able to run a tournament to send a couple of people here in Alberta, didn't take a whole lot of work.

Honestly I can't understand what all the whining is about.

Just curious, what was the entry and payout to be able to send a couple? Did it include travel? What divisions?

One of the gripes I have is the place who says they're running qualifiers, doesn't ever tell anyone/advertise about them. John White recently told me he is going to run them Tuesday's and Thursday's but I'm not sure when they start.

Hi, it was $150 entry fee, 1 trip was paid for every 12 people playing. Entry fee, travel and hotel were paid. There was a little money added as well. Only for 9 ball div.

We advertised 2 months in advance.

The prize est. value was $2000. Were the two winners given the extra in cash, or were there other spots payed out? Hotel for 3 nights (3 x 125=375), Entry (150), Flight (500?), Member fee (50?). $1075 rough estimate. Also, it's a shame it came down to the wire to get the 24 min. players.

As far as I know there were no trip payouts, travel and accommodations were booked on the players behalf.

I think the only cash payout was made for the top female finish.

Best post in the thread, in my opinion, of course.
I think Coop does a good job under the circumstances.
The game needs provincial support....
...which ultimately means the players have to support the game.

Sorry for being late to the party, but Saskatchewan seems to be doing OK. We have regionals followed by provincials to select players for nationals (8,9, and snooker). Brad (8/9) and Fabian (snooker) won those trips. Beyond that, like SGM did in AB, a group put together a set of tournaments, $50 entry, winners go on to final tournament and that winner gets a trip to nationals (Daryl). All tournaments were well attended for such a tiny little place like SK.

We are fortunate to have guys like Al Tirk around.

I went to the Prince Albert tournament the year Eric Hjorliefson won it.
..flew to Saskatoon and got a lift to the venue and back...wish I could
remember the names.
Walked a few blocks in 25 degrees below zero just to see what it felt like.

You guys are great for the game...don't give up on us yet.
