What's a good material for the joint end of carbon fiber shafts. I've been using g10 but it's expensive and hard to tap.

Linen, cotton, paper or doesn’t matter?I use phenolic. G10 must make that tube really sing.
I have old paper left over. If I buy it now, i prefer rolled and molded. But keep in mind, the black rolled and molded is much harder than the brown, it's also more brittle.Linen, cotton, paper or doesn’t matter?

Not so far. I'd have to really be paying attention to be able to tell the difference between mine and wood. I've only made 4 so I'm definitely not trying to brag. Just trying to learn. Why would g10 make it "sing"I use phenolic. G10 must make that tube really sing.
I considered that but wasn't sure about the... shoulder?(still haven't learned all the the terminology yet) I'm talking about the part that sticks out of the shaftand is trimmed flush with the outside diameter.I personally enjoy hard maple inserts for my own cf shaft.

That makes sense to me. I like it. I've watched a lot of studios videos. Wish he did more talking though. I found some of his blog type videos that he did with his wife. He has a good personality and seems to be of above average intelligence.I have the maple insert stick out past the end of the cf tube and then use a thin phenolic ring around the wood where it abuts the cf tube. Kind of like how you would put a small ring on the joint end of a traditional wood shaft.
Studiotronics on YouTube (and here) has a good video of how he does it that I learned from.
