Care and maintenance of a White Diamond tip?

I bought a used Dufferin 1-piece house cue that someone has transformed into a 2-piece break cue.....complete with an extremely hard White Diamond tip. It truly hits like a hammer and I love it. Best $35 I think I've ever spent.

Anyway, I've yet to touch the White Diamond tip, and may not need to for a while. But, since this tip appears to be made out of some sort of hard fiber and I have ZERO experience with anything like that.....how do I take care of this thing? Can it be lightly scuffed up like a normal leather tip or is there a different way? Are there any do's and dont's for a tip such as this?

Any info would be appreciated.

I have a WD tip and for me (so far) I have not had any issues with trating it like any leather tip, I have had it on for 6 months now.

I lightly scuff mine occasionally with a little square of 80 grit paper. But the tips last basically forever. And break great.

I emailed Joe to get the lowdown from the man himself.

I was trying to use common sense and tell myself that a light scuff shouldn't hurt anything, but this thing hits so good.....well, I didn't want to ruin a good thing.

I'll let everyone know what I find out from Joe.

From his website:

* They shape and scuff easily with sand paper and are extra thick and long lasting.

Maybe this answers your question.

Well, Dave, I think you nailed it. Lol.

I'm at work, so I didn't have much time to investigate. So, I tossed it out to you guys. Thanks for looking it up for me.
