Carolina amateur tour

The Carolina tour is run by dishonest people who let certain players play and don't allow others to play even if their abilities are the same. The people who run it practice discrimination on a weekly basis. It's ran by cowards, not men.

Brutal!

Without facts, your story is worth exactly what it costs us...

Hay "B White ru from GA" ? And what would make you say that i was just lookin to joining that tour .It sounds like it's better then the other one that runs down here. Not say no name's but all those down here knows what tour....

I'll just say this and leave it at that. The person running the tournament would not let me play even though he knew for a fact that at least 3 players were in the tournament that played just as well as me. Four players who all played the same and he excluded me only!

Ahh..I feel your pain!

I actually got my entry fee handed back to me & asked not to come back at a tournament last summer. Very Funny...not.

I am of 2 opinions:
Bunch of pu$$!es! You should be scared.
and,
It's like playing dodgeball with a 10 year old. Thanks for letting me leave.

Crappy as it is, that's life. You learn and make your next choice with the info.

It is lame though...

Brian,
As I explained to you, this is not an open tour. One of the criteria used to determine eligibility is the BCA master player list. Since you are listed there, you were excluded. That decision was made by a group of people, not any one individual. I take exception to your comment that there is anything "dishonest" about the tour. I would like to know specifically what you feel is "dishonest" It's not meant to be an open tour. As for the other name calling, I don't really care, but when you start to make slanderous statements, I have a concern.
There are several hundred players on the tour who would disagree with you.

Poolteacher, the BCA master player list is a good tool to use, but be aware of the fact that there are some omissions, i.e., Ronnie Allen.

I have read on this forum where another independent promoter was seeking advice on what to use as a guideline to include/exclude pool players from attending amateur events, and the BCA list generally is a great reference source.

I sincerely hope that this tour works out the snags and addresses some of the concerns expressed. Sounds like the tour has the capability of being a success (IMO).

I assumed it was an open tournament. Complaining about not getting into a dodge-ball game with 10 year olds is just sad!

I agree that the BCA list is not perfect. We also use other lists, regularly review results on AZB, and have a committee of players, room owners, and tour directors to review eligibility. None of it is perfect, but we do the best we can. I dare say well over 95% of the players like the format and rules. If they didn't, they wouldn't keep coming back to play. Someone is always going to be unhappy when a ruling goes against them, as seems to be the case here.

Someday maybe pool will have a unified ranking system similar to handicaps in golf. Until that time comes, we can only do so much. I try to run the best tournaments I can, listen to player concerns, and try to make it as fair as possible. Can't do more than that. The fact that we went from 12 stops last year to 20 this year says something. We aren't perfect, but we try.

So for u to play on this tour u have to be a nobody.Hell put me in all of your stops.i can't make a ball just ask any one who know me ....
Get me some info on this tour 'pooltchr' I'll love to play.and i know i'm on the Bca list .I'm on no ones list, just the "FBI" and still has not got me....LOL

Pooltchr,

Don't let those people who can't see the forest for the trees knock you down. You're doing a great thing with the Lucasi Cues Amateur tour, and I for one applaud you for it. If people can't understand that you're not running a tour for professionals (hence the AMATEUR in the name of the tour), then they're too stupid to argue with in the first place. Sure, there are going to be unhappy people when you tell them they can't play, but there are other avenues for them to travel. I have lots of friends who have played in the events (Robert Ray, Larry Pierce, Rodney Strickland, etc.) and I plan to play myself as soon as I recover from surgery (damned carpal tunnel) because of the good things I've heard. I also talk to the owner of Babineau's quite a bit, and I know he's hosting a few stops, so I'll be sure to be ready by the time the events start getting close to home. Keep up the good work.

Doom,
Thanks for the support. One important note. As of this year, it is now the FURY cue's amateur tour. New sponsorship this year, and it looks to be bigger and better than ever. Will look forward to seeing you. 7 of the 21 stops are in the Raleigh area this year.
Carpel tunel? Let me guess...too much Set, Pause, Finish/Freeze??? LOL
Steve

Sorry Doom, but the person running the tournament(i believe it was Tim Higgins) said no way that Robert Ray could play again next year. The reason he let him play and not me in the event i'm speaking of is because " Robert Ray is invovled in the points race, he will not be allowed to play next year". So we will see how honest they are.
P.S. Thats not me on the BCA list, it's another person with the same name!

B White and to all others....First off my name is Kay and I am the owner of Kings Bay Promotions Amateur 9-Ball that you have been speaking of. Tim Higgins is the Tour Director. All decisions on persons playing are made on a case by case basis. Your name is on the BCA list whether its another person or not we do not know. But this is a list that we go by since there is no Pro Billiards Tour to rank the players any more. We do not make our decisions lightly as we have been in situations the same as yourself where Tim has not been allowed to play in an event due to his playing ability. We do understand that it can be frustrating but B. White standing around for a good hour after the tournament started raising a fuss is not how to win points. This is suppose to be a gentlemans game. I am sorry you feel the way you do B. White but I stand behind my Tour Directors decisions and my Tournament Directors (pootchr) decisions they have made on you. I do hope this does not deter others from playing.
Also B White. hig3 asked you to email him for a discussion on the decision but you have not. So far you've only taken the time to try to talk down about us. That tells me a lot.
Thanks to all and hope to see you at the events

My only issue with the Carolina/ Fury tour is the way in which decisions are made regarding who gets in and who doesn't. I had heard that people were up in arms regarding Robert Ray being allowed to play. But to label him as anything other than a very good amateur would be absurd.

I know that my name would not appear on the BCA list, yet I was informed that had I showed up for a tournament, I would not have been allowed to enter. I am a hard working guy, who happens to also be able to play a little pool while holding down a 50 hour a week job. I would love to see players have to show a W-2 or a current pay stub. That would weed out alot of the players who only run around the state/country making a living from playing pool and then trying to sneak into amateur events.

Someone is always going to be the favorite in any given tournament. One of the ways in which I became a better player was to compete in tournaments with better players.

What's to discuss? Tim was no "gentlemen" when he told me i could not play, I assure you! If i email him, do you think he'll let me play? I think not. And by the way, you admitted it, you don't know if it was me on the master's list, but you don't care.

it was plain prejudice, period!

Reverend Dave
would you please email me your name at kbp_amateur9-ball@gate.net. I would also like to know who told you you couldn't play. I do not remember any request for information and I will be happy to check it out for you and let you know what the status is and why. Like I said before its a case by case basis.

B White... Tim was not at the tournament that you claim he was not a gentleman in telling you you couldn't play and I did not say in my post that I did not care. You need to reread my previous post. Your name is on the BCA list.....Can you prove to me that that is not you...I figure not for with all your fussing and you being as well known as you are with other players that it is you.
I figured that you are raising such a fuss to make us let you play just to shut you up. We have rules and regulations that we try our best to follow. This is the end of the discussion for me on this subject. I am usually a very patient person but you my friend have maxed me out. I deal with 500 plus player members every year and have never had this much going on with any of them. Just remember.....These are amateur events
We wish you luck in your playing.
